Re: New Coach At West
I hate to hear it cause he WILL be missed! One of the winningest coaches in the area. Don't know who will take the job.

Re: New Coach At West
The arrogance from West always shines through. If it meant letting the kids and fans from opposing teams get cussed and belittled I guess we are way better off.

Brickey may have been a harda$$, but he was still one of the best softball coaches in the state. You don't have the kind of success he had without being a good coach. He will be sorely missed at West and I'm sure the Burg people will miss his tirades at the Pirates/Siders games.
Any info on who may take his place.

Re: New Coach At West
No one said he wasn't a great coach, just that he wasn't the ideal represenative of West with the way he treats players and fans. If that is how you want your kids and fans from other schools treated then so be it. Hey Bob Knight was a great coach also but look where he is.

Farewell to a great coach.
You should be really proud of yourself for putting down a great group of high school girls to make yourself appear superior! You are probably an adult (who should know better) and probably don't have an athletic bone in your body. Why don"t you grow up!!! Do not put any youth down who get out there and represent their school or area with pride.

Is this the short assistant coach? If it is, I have seen him at many ASA tournaments and he seems to handle himself and his team in a much more appropriate manner than that maniac that was at West.
Re: New Coach At West
I will venture to say that this job will not make it to the public, a teacher will put in for it. I would say it will be a West softball alum that played under Brickey!

Bart Evans has the job right now, and he was told if he wanted it, it would be his.
Bart applied yesterday, with troy Irwin as his asst. No is it not the short one, he
is helping Ralph Cole at Shawnee State.

Re: New Coach At West
brickey was a great coach and was highly respected by his players. though he will be greatly missed by his players im sure he wants to see them do well and hopefully that will inspire the girls and they will have a great season. they have alot of talent from grades 9 - 12 so they will do fine.
