Is a new coach needed in Lady Cat land? Should we hire a new softball coach? Vote and post your thoughts. No bashing please.

It ain't gonna matter here in a couple years when Trimble consolidates with N-Y so you better beat Wahama in something pretty soon or it'll be too late.

This consolidation will happen about the same time Mason County WV schools consolidate.

Nope, last time they tried it Wahama parents and voters didn't bite (again) and Point Pleasant got the new redesigned schools, turf field, track and all the good stuff and Wahama got an auxillary gym paid for with bricks bought by our alumni connected to the old gym with some new paint and putty and that's about it. If it didn't pass that time it never will unless the State of WV moves in for financial reasons which IS what Ohio is going to do with the N-Y and Trimble situation (it's just a matter of time).

FOS People like you have been saying Trimble will consolidate with NY since before my dad graduated 30 years ago. That is not going to happen. Neither school has any excess money. In a few years NY will be struggling too unless a new Kasich gets impeached. So why would they put two poor schools together? Not going to happen.

The same reason the state made wholesale changes in the late 60's (Look up the history at the number of schools that that State of Ohio consolidated back then, including the N-Y, Meigs, Athens and Fed. Hock areas just to name a few and that was 45 years ago when all this happened). Even your school Juvenile, did you know it used to be the Glouster Tomcats ? How about Chauncey-Dover, Corning, Ames-Bern, Carthage-Troy, The Plains, Hamden, Albany or McArthur which are all located within a reasonable distance of where you live. These were all schools that consolidated back then in like a ten year period and it's about ready for the 50 year cycle, especially in SEO.

Yes and WV has had numerous counties, ones just like yours in Mason, consolidate into one school. It is as apt to happen to your school as it is ours. Also, within your history lesson absent is the fact that when schools like Glouster and J-T consolidated there was little if any loss to transportation costs. If Trimble and Nelsonville are forced together the transportation costs would be astronomical with $4+ per gallon for fuel. That is just one aspect that would nullify any benefits.

Mason county got to vote for consolidation and the Wahama people lost out when they didn't go for it and Point Pleasant got just about everything they wanted and more than they needed. The Ohio school system funding needs a lot of revamping whereas the WV system is working out pretty well expenditure wise all over the state even when you have whole counties going to the same high schools now. It's a whole lot farther driving those mountains in counties down there than going over 2 ridges in Athens county to get to Nelsonville for the current Trimble folks. The one thing down there though is that if schools continue to consolidate then pretty soon they'll have to form and "A-AA" and "AAA" format for playoffs because there aren't very many small schools left. It's getting to the point where everyone will get in the football playoffs just due to lack of schools. I believe they're getting close to having a little over 100 high schools in the whole state now and that's including 8 Catholic / Christian high schools and the WV school for the blind & WV school for the deaf.
