Bulldogs seeded 4th in sectional
Fifth seeded Gallipolis will face 4th seeded Athens in a 2012 semi-final game in the South 4 sectional softball tournament on Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m., at The Plains Field near Athens.
Weather permitting, the two teams will meet in a regular season non-league game Tuesday, May 1 at Athens. GAHS is 17-7 on the year. Athens is 12-5 overall.
Top-seeded squads in the 18 team 2012 Division II tournament are:
South 1—Warren Local (18-3)
North 1—Greenfield McClain (18-3)

South 2—No. 2 Unioto (13-3) vs. No. 7 Marietta (8-12) at Unioto on Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m.
South 3—Jackson (14-5) vs. Waverly (15-8) at 11 a.m., on May 12 at Jackson.
South 4—No. 4 Athens (12-5) vs. No. 5 Gallipolis (17-7) at Athens on Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m.
North 2—No. 2 Logan Elm (13-8) vs. No. 7 Sheridan (7-13) at Logan Elm on Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m.
North 3—No. 3 Circleville (12-7) vs. No. 8 Fairfield Union (8-13) at Circleville on Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m.
North 4—No. 4 New Lexington (11-9) vs. No. 5 Miami Trace (11-10) on Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m.
No. 1 south seed Warren Local will battle the winner of the Wednesday May 9 game between No. 8 South Point (9-9) and No. 9 Vinton County (2-18) at South Point on Saturday, May 12 at Vincent at 11 a.m..
No. 1 north seed Greenfield (18-3) will meet the winner of No. 6 Washingtom CH (4-16) and No. 9 seed Hillsboro (4-16) at Greenfield on Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m.
All May 12 sectional winners will advance to district tournament play at Northwest High School in McDermott. On Tuesday, May 15, Northwest will host the upper bracket finals at 4:30 p.m. On Wednesday May 16, Northwest will host the lower bracket finals at 6 p.m.
District finals are set for Friday, May 18 at 4:30 p.m., and 6 p.m. Two winners advance to the regional tournaments at Pickerington and at Mason on Wednesday, May 23.

Actually, Jottings, all baseball and softball games on Saturday, May 12 are 11 a.m. starts.
