GAHS Athletic Hall of Fame committee
reorganizes, accepts two new members

The Gallia Gallia Academy High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame committee reorganized Wednesday night in the GAHS cafeteria in Centenary.

The committee voted to accept two new members for the 2013-14 school year—Chris Ellcessor and Brenda Wilson.

The group set a deadline for applications for this year’s HOF induction ceremonies—July 10. Applicants should send their nominations to Tom Meadows, Second Ave., Gallipolis. The committee also set a deadline for individuals to apply for athletic scholarships—May 1.

The committee also set the date for its next meeting on Tuesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. New nominations and holdovers will be reviewed at that time. The group will also establish dates for the 12th induction ceremony and banquet later this fall.

Tom Meadows, president, presided during Wednesday’s session.

Lori Young, HOF committee treasurer, reported deposits totaled $1,507 and checks were written for $700, leaving a balance of $6,139.79 to start the new fiscal year.

Nominees who graduated 10 years ago are eligible for nomination. Men are eligible between 1925 and 1990. Women are eligible from 1977 to 1993, same as last year.

Holdover nominations are on display at the Bossard Memorial Library and new nominations will be put on display at the library later this year.

Eighteen attended the session, including Tom Meadows, John Milhoan, Hobart Wilson, Jr., Rusty Saunders, Lori Young, Tom Young, Tom Morgan, Renee Barnes, Jim Osborne, Brent Saunders, Sara Evans-Moore, Keith McGuire, Randy Finney, Jimmy Noe, Jennifer Edelmann, Jack Payton, Brenda Wilson and Karen Sprague.
