KY ASA Pre-Season Tournament Team List

Post by bbalestra »

At Kentucky ASA we will ALWAYS provide a list of teams that are committed to our tournaments to help interested teams be sure of what competition to expect. If we do not get 4 paid teams from a division we will cancel that division. Based on the limitations of our beautiful host site, we will limit registrations to the first 8 paid registrations. Below is the list of teams that are registered for the Kentucky ASA Pre-season tournament on April 26th-27th. I will mark (paid or not paid) next to each team. This tournament is an ASA sanctioned qualifier event with a LOW entry fee of $225. If your organization is interested in registering please contact Brenden Balestra at [email protected] or call me at 606-922-2261. The first 8 paid registrations will be accepted:

According to Ohio ASA president Warren Jones Kentucky ASA CANNOT hold tournaments in ohio. Kentucky has no jurisdiction in Ohio. Also Kentucky ASA in in the Northern region where Ohio is in the Eastern region. This tournament has not been approved to be an Eastern National qualifer per Warren Jones or Brent Munn District 8 commissioner. If Mr. Balestra would return phone calls to Warren Jones he would know this.

To: southernohioSB:

I spoke today about this with Bill Bollinger, KY ASA Commissioner. We CAN and are going to sanction tournaments in Ohio being a border state. We host tournaments in Missouri and Tennessee and several bordering sates (check out our website and tournament locations at http://www.kyasa.org) every year. Also, we can award berths not just to the Northern National but also any of the Regional National tournaments we want to. Warren Jones also has not called me and I have not had any emails or phone calls from anybody with Ohio ASA. Bill Bollinger, the Kentucky State Commissioner said to feel free to call him to discuss this further. Bill's number is 270-570-0382, and his email address is [email protected]. Sorry for your misunderstanding.

Brent,

I was not avoiding any calls. Warren finally called me this weekend. We agreed that you can be involved with the tournaments I am hosting in Portsmouth if you agree to my fee schedule. You charge $25 per team to sanction your tournaments, and $400 per team to enter your tournaments. That causes most host sites to not schedule any ASA sanctioned events in our area. Instead USSSA, and NSA dominate our area because of cost. We are interested in bringing ASA back to the tri-state area and not putting money in our pockets. We are sanctioning all of my tournaments for $0 NO CHARGE SANCTIONING, and my entry fees will be $225 the LOWEST IN THE AREA. Call me at 606-922-2261 if you wish to be included. I would like to talk to you anyway. Myself, Bill Bollinger, Adam Loland (in WV) are planning on doing some things to keep the costs low to help bring ASA back to our area. I had a very successful tournament in the Fall in Portsmouth with a lot of good teams that hadn't visited Portsmouth in years, and that is what we are planning to do again, and again. We are not concerned with making money. We are only concerned with making all tournaments in this area an ASA sanctioned event. I would like you to be involved with that as well. Again, instead of posting messages to a forum on a website, which does nothing but hurt the ASA family, pick up the phone and give me a call 606-922-2261. Thanks!

Brendan,
If you knew what you were doing; it would be different. I don't charge a sanctioning fee. If you run any qualifier the tournament director has to pay $25 per team to the ASA for a qualifier. This year it is $30 per team. I take this out of tournament entry fee; so no extra cost to teams. If a team is not registered with the ASA it costs them an extra $30 to register. I know you texted Warren I was standing beside him. He told you to go thru me. He did not say anything about me keeping your low costs $225 for one tournament but $350 for others. That is keeping the costs down! You can charge what you want and I don't care what you charge. Paying umpires $20- $25 dollars per game. Most umpires get $30-$35. Your texts were copied to me also; so I seen all the lies you were telling. You must go thru me for ohio tournaments that fall in my district. So if you want to run tournaments in ohio call me. 740-357-1883

Brent.

In Kentucky we DO NOT have to send anything per team in to ASA to run a qualifier.

You are saying you have to send $25 per team in to ASA for a qualifier? I just want to be clear about that. I could be wrong and want to check on that.

In Ohio you do. I think it went up to $30 per team for a qualifier. I sent Warren a message about it. Go to Ohioasasoftball.org. Click on youth tournaments then click on tournament application form. I had to send this in last year after the Waverly tournament. This is why you have to go through me because each state is different. I am willing to work with you. You just have to give me a call.
