well the district 14 game was @ 3:00...then the tryouts for the undergrad team they I posted about was @ 10:00 and 12:00 last sunday...I think that was the times. And as far as I know the coach should have let them know all of this information when they gave them their placque and stuff. Most all coaches was alos there last Sunday @ tryouts and the game...well I would say 99% of the coaches was there.

In response to Ilovessoftball: the southeast district chooses an underclass (meaning players that were Freshmen, Sophomores, or Juniors this past season) to play in a tournament at Pickerington Central HS the last week of June.

Every coach who is a member of the district coaches' association gets notices about the tryouts at least three times from January through May (the coaches must attend two meetings and there are usually two mailings). It is the coach of each school who should let prospective underclass players know about the try-out that is held the first Sunday in June every year.

We have approximately 60-65 schools in the Southeast district and there were probably 13 or 14 coaches at the try-outs on Sunday.

The girls that qualify always seem to enjoy the competition at Pickerinton and there are some college coaches that attend to watch for prospects. There is a boat-load of talent at the underclass tournament and I do not understand why any coach would not want to see his or her players participate.

I hope this helps you understand what the underclass team is about...it is selected independently from the all-district teams.

Thank you for the explanation coach, I have a better understanding now. Our daughter would not have been able to participate anyway due to asa tournaments and that may be why her coach didn't mention it to her. I appreciate you explaining this to me. Maybe next year......! :-D

The under classman team is normally picked by coaches association Officers, This year coaches from Wellston ,Zane Trace, Waterford ,Symmes Valley, worked the try-out and I bet if you look at the roster each coach got at least 1 or 2 if not 3 of his players on the team !
I feel that let the players play a 3 inning game see there abilitys and judge from actual game action, not from a pitching machine getting 10 pitches and having a coach it 15 balls at you, I think I could make any one look good or bad just by the way you hit to them?
Check out the roster and see if I am right!
No wonder some of the best talent stays home and won't try-out!

tigercat1....Apparently, the all-district softball list is still MIA. Remember talking about this at the VA the day of the all-star baseball games?

I already did the story on the Jackson and Wellston players who made it for my paper, but that still doesn't satisfy the entire list.

BTW....Vacation has been enjoyable. Although, it was in the upper 90s in South Carolina with heat index of 105 and a sunburn index of at least 9 on a scale of 1-11+ for four straight days. 8-10 being "very high" and 11+ being "extreme." I'm paying for it in that regard.

The All-District list was in Thursday PDT. I noticed that 2 of the Clay players made 1st team and 1 made 2nd team. My question is how does coach Ruby explain this to her players and parents. She told them no one made it because the other soc coaches would not vote for the clay players. This even got a fight started. One of the clay dads got into a fight with one of the soc coaches. Getting a player on the 1st team is hard to do. Clay got two on the first team and one on the second team, I would say most of the soc coaches voted for these girls to get them there.

Keyser_soze78,

Yep, I remember talking about it. At least you knew who your local players were to put them in the paper. I didn't even have that information.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your vacation! I'm going to be taking one in a week or two and I can't wait. Burned out is an understatement at this point!

tristate, thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check that list out and see who made it from the area.

Coach Ruby never told her players and parents none of the Clay kids did not make all-district...get your facts straight...
