I have to disagree with Mrs SV regarding Symmes Valley's sportsmanship. I was watching the game between Clay And Fairfield and saw Symmes Valley clapping For Fairfield. I'm assuming they wanted Fairfield to win, but they should have kept it to themselves. I saw that Clay stuck around a couple of innings for the Green Symmes Valley game and didn't see those girls cheering for either local team, regardless of who they wanted to win. I'm sure Coach Ruby had some say in the way her girls responded to that kind of sportsmanship.

Ok? Are we talking about high school
students? Do they not have a right to
cheer for who ever they want?
And as far as cheering for anyone
the girls cheered for no one.
I was right there. Not one time did
they say anything negative or do anything negative.
They had not even 10 min. on the fence there before they
started warming up.
On the other hand when Mrs. Groves hit her home run
the Little group you had on the fence by home plate.
This person (because I wouldn't call her a lady) stood by
the fence with her hands gripped inside the fence hollering
at SV high school girls............In your face Symmes Valley ...in your face, how do you like that. I'm sure coach Ruby
is SO PROUD!!!!!!
GROW UP and if you would like to holler at some one
go some where away from these kids that dont deserve
this kind of treatment.
Goes to show again.............Clay will be Clay..........

I too can say I thought SV conducted themselves with the upmost dignity and respect, as they have always shown the ability and courtesy to do so. On the other hand I did see the incident that Iam4OSU saw, chants after a homerun of "In your face," and "Take that." I might also add that the Clay softball team in general has some of the foulest mouths I have ever heard on a softball field.

The fact of the matter is, this behavior (or lack thereof) and sportsmanship (or...lack thereof) has haunted Clay Softball for a few years now, I find it hard to look past the coach in my opinion. Sure, Coach Ruby is an excellent coach of the game, but I wonder what type of lessons these girls are recieving outside of the ballgame. If you cant control your kids, or atleast have them act respectfully, what's the point?

There is no question Clay has great talent on their team. Talent aside the girls actions and attitudes reflect the attitude of their parents/coaches. Why can't the Clay Clan just be happy they have a team with this caliber of talent without dogging the other teams and trying to rub in in their faces. Enjoy that your kids have this ability and help them enjoy this experience and not get them entangled in petty trash talk with the other teams. Have you ever wondered why the other coaches in the league shun Clay for the awards? Your actions have repercussions.
I personally hope some team from this league goes all the way, be it Clay or SV. No matter who it is I hope they conduct themselves with some maners while representing our league. Clay showed themselves last year at state. Could possibly have cost some of the girls college offers from what is being told at the state level.

Good luck to all.

Green Fan, SV you played your hearts out Saturday. Good luck.

I know I will regret this but can't go without chiming in...Be A Warrior obviously has issues with Clay...just check out the "Clay clan, shady demeanor comments"...the chants of "In your face" and "Take that" came from people on the other side of the fence...not the kids playing between the lines...so just how much is Coach Ruby supposed to control?...the kids have nothing to do with that nonsense just as Odie cannot control how his crowd would conduct themselves...as far as the foulest mouths on the softball field...I particularly heard your precious SV girls dropping the "f bomb" during their last game...guess that is not too foul since they are above and beyond any judgements...I did not see the Clay girls do anything inappropriate during the district win or after their win when they watched for a few innings...I believe a coach does have control over who their teenagers root for outwardly..."good sportsmanship" as I see it includes supporting teams from your own league and area...

As far as the Clay kids being ignored for awards...it is a ridiculous situation and sad to say the least...it makes the whole "award" process a joke...sad that adults would consider it their job to punish teenagers who worked hard enough and deserved to win their awards...Coach Mike Estepp and the group at Wheelersburg baseball were shunned as well...it would appear the most important criteria for being shunned for SOC awards is simply winning

The trip to state didn't cost anyone a scholarship...as you will see in the future...kids have plenty of opportunities...hopefully Coach Ruby hasn't ruined them for life...

Wow -- everyone join the bandwagon...It's cool to hate the "Clay Clan"

The bottom line is people want someone to hate and who better to hate than the team that is winning...It's no surprise.

Coach does a great job with her kids and always has...Many of her former players have gone on to have successful careers and families...And many of them still call her, stop in to see her, and thank her for her role in shaping their futures...That's no secret --

As far as her ability to control parents on the other side of the fence -- ummm...good luck - She has no more control over that than Odie or anyone else...and I'm sure Odie would be the first to admit he has had parents who have done things he did not like...I bet he'd also admit he's had players who have done things he did not like...

The mouths of the Clay kids are no different than any other team in the area...Ask your angels -- if they're honest they'll tell you...I personally have never heard a Clay kid use profanity but there's no way for any of us to hear everything...

Judge not people -- no one's perfect...And quit hating on the team that's winning -- all teams put in the hard work and effort -- sometimes teams have good years sometimes they don't...that's the way the ball bounces.

As far as Clay being shunned for awards -- It speaks more to the lack of constitution held by the adults who would conspire against children...Shame on them -- those people are who need to get a life...It's pretty disgusting and believe me people are talking (not just people from softball but from the community as a whole) -- not about how great it is Clay was shunned but how pathetic those adults are...You should really feel good about yourselves you pulled a fast one on a teenager. Way to go.

Keep your awards -- they obviously are meaningless anyways...

First of all I would like to say congrats to Odie on a Great win. I am sad that Green lost , but I am glad it was symmes valley we lost to. First I would like to say that a child has every right to cheer for any team. It doesnt matter who they are. We had 5 girls watching a game last year between clay & symmes valley (Which we love symmes valley ) And clay girls were chanting "we got the green team all tore up" The point is they were not even playing us they were playing symmes valley. Another point is parents need to quit trying to live there lives through there children. Let them play ball , it is just a game. Lady Vikings take it to the next level & good luck . We will miss you next year , hope to see a few of your games. Odie Thank you For being the coach you are . Your team has been great to play against such great sportsmanship between the vikings & our lady Bobcats. My daughter thinks alot of you. Keep up the good work.

I have actually seen the awards for this season, I dont see many problems...

Of course the higher level you get, the more political things get...for the most part...I agree with all slections.

All-Ohio...a few undeserving candidates in my opinion...and a few that are very deserving in my opinion.

All-district...Once again the same story...

SOC-awards....I see no problems whatsoever, after all...it is choice left up to your own coach...

as for players of the year, and coaches of the year...I have not heard or seen who they are at this point in time, I was told to wait in suspense for that one...but I find it hard to believe that anyone can get shunned...there is a vote between schools and coaches...how can you call that getting shunned?

Like I said previously...I have seen most of the selections...and agree with most of them with the exception of a few all-ohio selctions...I didn't see anybody left off that I thought should be on there...maybe a few that I thought got a little help getting on there, and a few that I agree with completly.

Clay plays Wednesday don't know who they play.
SV Plays Danville on Thursday.

Best of luck to both teams. Both appear to have a strong fan base. Hope they both represent the SOC well in the state trourney. If they should meet on the field. Hope all acts as adults on the outside of the fence and hope the kids have fun on the inside of the fence.

See you all next year. Green will rise again ! :aaaaa10
