Strikeout wrote:These tryouts will be for the 2009 year. They will be held around the 2nd & 3rd weekends in Sept.. This year we had a 12u team and just took girls from the local school district. In the 2009 year we are really wanting to run several tournaments and have some very good and dedicated Ball players who want to win, So we are looking for some top players to come and play out of the tri-state area. We will only take 10 players in each age group.

10 players each age group? Honestly I think I would reconsider that if I was in charge of the team, with this being ASA you will be playing atleast 3 games a weekend. And as much as we all do not want them to happen injuries happen. I would honestly consider upping it to 15 or so.

I will stick with ten per age group, If some one gets hurt we can pick up some one for the next weekend. I dont want five girls setting on the bench the whole weekend and I dont think parents want there kids setting either after paying to play.

No offense here...but are your coaches afraid to sub kids in and out? That is all a coach would need to do with 15 is sub kids in and out.

I know several coaches who coach asa and none of them have 15 kids on a team. With a hour and 15 minutes to play why have that many kids.
And with this getting way off the orignal post please know one respond to this post and just please call me if interested. And if people are reading this add do you want your kid on a team with 15 or 10 kids on a team?

I would have at least 11 or 12..Just came out of a travel ball season..At the end when girls go on vacation, get injured or you get a couple to quit like we had you are digging around calling people to come play with you that weekend..It is hard to get them all in when you have all 12 or so in there but at the end of the season you wouldn't regret it because things do happen to players..JMO...Hope you have a great turn out for tryouts and a great season next year.. :-D

15 is way too many! On all the team's I've been with, we've had a maximum number of 12 (I think). And that was tough to do. Most teams, though, have only had 9 or 10. Usually, my teams have had a solid 9 players, so the subs wouldn't get much playing time. 10 is a good number, though. You never know what will happen during a weekend.
