Gallipolis won two games today to improve its season record to 17-7. The Blue angels downed visiting Waverly, 3-1, and Piketon, 1-0.

No offense to NW, but it is out of the way for most schools in Division II. Chillicothe was a good crossroads for a majority of district teams.
Majority maybe, Warren and Marietta....no way. I don't care what others say, a 2 hour bus ride before a game makes it tough to play at a high standard. School buses are not comfortable not to mention these kids go a long time between meals on these trips.

I have always said the games should be at a neutral site midway between both schools. THAT would be fair.
Fair, but impractical, to have someone to host the game on short notice. I'd take the 3 hr drive to NW to play on a neutral field rather than a 2 hr trip to Unioto to play a team on their home field.
Years ago we wanted to use the high school field for practice. The varsity was out of the tournament and done for the season. The AD told us we couldn't until after the Districts because the field may be needed for games. Warren Local has never hosted a district game to my knowledge. So, apparently it is possible to host on short notice. A trip to Vincent may do everyone some good....lol.

Wins over JACKSON & WELLSTON isn't enoug to put Athens (11-5) over Waverly (13-7)?

What??? You have made the long trip, others should share in your joy. Warren High School is the best place to watch a baseball game around and the softball field is the best for the home team to watch. Can't beat sitting on a hill looking over the fence.

This looks reasonable to me. Not sure of the 5/6s. Don't know much about Waverly other than record. 5/6 are both going to have real tough games with the 3/4 seeds.

Warren baseball - beat place to watch?

O.k. - maybe watch - but not suitable for tournament games ... Unless our 12 year olds need a little league field to play on ...

It's impossible to know but Waverly's schedule is killer in the SOC....2 against Valley (the best team around), 2 against Burg (who easily beat Unioto), 2 against West, 2 against Minford (one of the best pitchers around)....mix in non-league 2 games against Jackson and one against Gallia Academy....I'm probably forgetting others but that's 11 games with a very tough opponent. (some of the 2nd games in the league may not have taken place...not sure)

How did teams in this sectional do against the top 6? I think Warren was 3-2, Jackson was 5-3, Gallia Academy 2-3, Waverly (1-2?), Athens (1-2?).....I think Athens plays Gallia Academy right after the drawing.

I think you mean the 3 and 4 seeds will have very tough games versus the 5 and 6 seeds.

Jackson has played Warren, Gallia, Waverly and Athens twice each. IMO Warren was the toughest even though we beat them 9-3.

IMO

Warren
Gallia/Waverly
Athens

But all are excellent and capable of long tournament runs....very close between Athens/Gallia/Waverly

No I meant getting 5 or 6 is going to get you a game against either Jackson's great hitting or Gallia's Heather Ward. Pick your poison.

I know nothing about Unioto either. They must be able to really hit to put up the numbers they have.

Number of games is a bit of a factor as well.

Some of these teams had played 15-16 games at a point when another team or two was at 11-12 games.

Jackson had a pretty fair pitcher as well....defense pitched in.

Was not trying to slight Jackson's pitching or defense at all...both very strong. But Jackson is the best hitting team we have faced. They are going to score in bunches.

Athens is certainly 6th best team at best.

Food for thought: Jackson was sitting 11-2, Top of SEOAL with week of April 16th approaching. Jackson had 5 players come down with FLU, Starting catcher, Starting Shortstop, Starting 1st baseman, Starting left-fielder. Played athens without catcher-in hospital for flu(lost to athens 3-1, ALL 3 runs scored on PASSED BALLS: had to move 4 players to play with best defense) Beat Gallia next night, Played Waverly (lost by 1 in bottom of 6th, still sick player at catcher) Beat Warren next night. Next week, 3 players flu on monday ,Play against wellston tues, Lose , play logan next night lose.

Had players not played with FLU could have been much worse: HAD BEEN HEALTHY --- COULD HAVE BEEN #1 SEED for sure!!!

Don't count out of #1 or #2 Still

$ losses last week and a half with 5 players with flu?

Those Athens wins must have been more important than first thought.
