Today is the day that I believe Notre Dame and Clay both had circled on their own calendars. Going to be a good game tonight to watch. There will be excitement and electricity in the air. Wish both teams a great game and injury free game. Still a long season to go.

Can anyone provide an updated conference standings? I know ND and Clay are at the top. Just wondering how everything is shaking out after the top.

ND 11 Clay 4.

ND won in all three phases of the game today. They brought their bats and forced Clay into mistakes.

They will see each other in a couple weeks. Hope to see both teams continue to play well.

Updated Standings

Notre Dame 16-1 (11-1)
Clay 15-2 (9-1)
Green 10-8 (8-3)
Symmes Valley 8-5 (4-3)
Beaver Eastern 7-11 (4-6)
Glenwood 4-15 (3-8)
Western 4-15 (1-8)
Sciotoville 1-11 (1-11)

Notre Dame and Clay split games. Green and Symmes Valley split games with each other also. Clay still has two games with Green and two games with Symmes Valley. Notre Dame has two games with Western. Green also has another game with Eastern. Symmes Valley still has several conference games including Clay (2), New Boston (2), Western (2) and Eastern. Not sure if some of those games have already been played.

Some good out of conference games still remaining is Notre Dame vs Waverly, Clay vs Wellston, Clay vs Jackson.

May be some mistakes above.

The top two are shaking out pretty much as planned. It's fitting that they have split games as good as the two programs are.

Symmes Valley is a testament of a solid program year in year out.

Green is a surprise at 3. They may have the best Defense in the SOC1 but a non dominate pitcher keeps a lot of stress on that defense to constantly make plays. Ava Jenkins is putting up some monster numbers for a none power hitter at the plate.

Eastern has struggled but injuries have made it harder to compete this year. Promising Jr High and they will need it for the SOC2 next year.

New Boston is young

East is young. Unlucky break losing Ginn for the remainder of the season.

Western has a new coach in the middle of an overhaul of the entire program.

St Joe (coming next season) Split with East, beat by New Boston. Never heard of these other schools they have been playing.

I definitely agree that SOC 1 is shaking out as expected with Clay and ND splitting the conference at the top. Both programs have great teams that will excel in the upcoming tourney. SV and Green are doing great at the 3 spot with them splitting their contests. I will have to disagree with you by saying Green has the best defense in SOC 1. I would have to say that Clay and ND also owns this category with their wins since they haven't been mercy ruled all season. SV has quality wins over Fairland, Coal Grove, and Eastern Meigs. Green only has 1 quality win over a team with a winning record in Symmes Valley. The others have come from getting 2 wins each over Western (1-11), East (4-16), New Boston (4-15), and North Adams (3-11). It will be interesting when the tournament draw happens this week to see where all the seeding falls in place with each team's resume.

Doubt you've seen a Green game but if you follow our local writers they have all praised Green as having a top tier defense in the SOC1

Im sorry Cold Hard truth , I shouldn't have directed that at you , for all I know local writers do exactly what you stated , but I will add most of the local press like the PDT has a sports guy that doesn't even know the rules of fast pitch or watch more than a single game , maybe two of the huge majority of local schools . Maybe I'm missing it , what local writers praise Greens defense , could you share a link ? I'm open minded

I'm not trying to say you don't know anything either. You clearly do. But I also doubt you've seen a Green game this year and that's ok. They honestly probably haven't given you a reason to in years past. But with a team that their pitchers job is to put the ball in play averging maybe 2 stroke outs a game their defense has kept games close with Clay, ND and Symmes Valley this year.

Check your local writers twitter feeds. I think you might be surprised.

When comparing any team to other teams in the area and your conference, you have to look at how they performed with say a team that is 13-5 and a team that is 3-15. It is easy this year to have a fairly good record due to many of the teams being so weak in this conference. With Eastern exiting and St. Joe entering next year, it will continue to decline in the future which makes the bottom even heavier. Many of the SOC teams at the top need to step up their scheduling non-conference to build a resume come tournament time. I know ND, Clay, and Symmes Valley are already doing so with their scheduling and quit playing teams like West Union and North Adams. I love the fact that SE Ohio Preps has a great way to look at each team's schedule to see who they played and what record each team has to use to compare quality wins or losses.
