Report From ASA Eastern National - Salem, VA

Just a quick note on the results of the Eastern National last week.

Mountain Thunder finished as Runner-Up losing the Championship Game to the Virginia Class A Scrappers 7 to 5. Mountain Thunder had to go without their Ace Kaci Riffle having broken her nose in a Center Field collision earlier in the day.

TNT Explosion 12u finished third, while the WV Wild 1's finished 5th.

The Huntington-Charleston area was well represented with 3 of the top 5 finishers.

Also, I don't want to be one to start rumors but I heard that possibly the Koch (spelling) had expressed interest in playing for Mountain Thunder 14u next year.

I think I also read in this forum that 3 Wild Thangs were going to play for the Central Ohio Stingrays.

I apologise if any of these rumors are not true but could any one shed some light on this subject.

Congratulations to the Thunder on their finish! Hate to hear about Kaci. Great pitcher and I hope that she heals fast. :(

Congrats to Tommy and the TNT 12U! Terrific bunch of kids! :122245

Congratulations also go out to WV Wild 1's! Another great team!

Hate to be a buzz kill, but the rumor about Koch is completely false. As far as the rest of the girls, there are several going to tryouts for other teams. And before any rumors get started, there is no fighting or ill feelings between anyone. No drama to blame for the separation. I know some people like to think that, but in this case, it's true. Sometimes in life, it's time for a change. In fact, several girls are going to tryouts together.

But just for the record, if you're not trying to start rumors, then don't post something on a public forum if you don't have all the details......

By the way, where exactly did you read that (about the Stingrays) on this forum? I didn't see anything anywhere...

Proud Wild Thang,

I was wrong and I stand corrected. Both rumors must have been from phone conversations. I couldn't remember if I had read about the Sting Rays or if I was told it in a phone conversation when I was speaking to people about tournaments. I originally clarified this further in this post then deleted it, because the clarification may cause further rumors. It is one of those cases where you wish you could reach out and take part of a posting back. But you can't once you post it, it is out there.

To clarify like Sargent Shultz "I know nothing" and rumors always float around about travel ball. Probaly 95% of them are not true. That is why I should not have posted it.

These are just rumors and you are absolutely correct I should not have posted them in this forum. I can tell you that I regret that part of the posting.

My apologies to all.

rainman,

Thanks for the apologies! As I said, there are several girls going to different tryouts together. Stingrays are included, but with tryouts coming up and nothing decided yet, I just hate for any rumors to hurt the girls' chances for any other teams (mine included).

Good Luck to all the Wild Thangs at their upcoming tryouts. The past three years have been a great stepping stone to get to where we (eventually) want to be. I guess we've done something right if people are interested in where our players are going to be next season! :122245

Good Luck to all the coaches and young ladies who work their butts off in the tri-state area. I look forward to a very competitive 2009 season!

Very Proud Wild Thang!

I, too, am proud of the Wild Thangs. They have truly made an impression in the whole tri-state area in the past 3 years. I wish the best of luck to all of the girls trying out for Stingrays, Lasers, Doom, or whichever team they may want to play for. I have no doubt that these girls will go far!!! 2009 season should be awesome!

congrats in a huge way to my WV friends. I told the Ohio folks that both Mountain Thunder and TNT would be top 10 type teams in ohio in 2008. Hate to hear that about kaci R getting injured , she is a difference maker for sure, no injury I'd guess that championship goes home to WV. Really cool to see all the local girls (we see the WV girls enough to call them local) do well on the national stage .
MT and TNT finish top 5 at the eastern regionals. WT's finish top 10 in the NSA nats. Stingrays with a couple WT girls win ohio state asa championship. plenty of good players tucked away in southern ohio/wv MD
