Naw, just kidding. I stopped by around noon. Field looks in great shape. Now if we have a 5 p.m. downpour, I hope ole' Chickamauga Creek stays in place.
Well, let's see. Yes, both Marietta and Gallia open tournament play on Wednesday. Of course, to finish out the game from Friday it won't be Gallia travelling the night before they start tourney play, now will it? So, there's a problem if the Marietta coach is just looking out for his girls the night before they start tourney play?
Softballhornmom.....Even if Marietta does have to travel to Gallia Academy the night before tournament play begins, the Lady Tigers are still hosting a tournament game the next night and are playing a team that by all accounts they should beat.
These are 15, 16, 17-year old athletes, so energy shouldn't be an issue with them at all.
I noticed that was your first post on SEOPS. For your sake, I hope they can only get better.
I agree - let's play the game. Knowing what the forecast was for Friday (the 8th), and not being able to have Gallia's field ready to go after the drenching the day before, why was the offer of the use of Marietta's fields on Thursday (the 7th) turned down? (BTW - I'm not picking on the grounds crew. That is not an easy job - especially this spring.)
So, gahs4ever, I guess that means your coach didn't want to travel - even tho they didn't have a game scheduled the next day. I could understand that...and there was no game scheduled for either team on Friday. So is this about location, or about the girls getting to play the game?
Gallipolis 4 Marietta 3 Blue Angels win second SEOAL title in 32 years of SEOAL play and first undisputed crown ever since the league begin softball action in 1978. GAHS shared the 1984 title with Ironton with a 7-1 mark.
Softballhornmom--although the game is now over, I think you should know that your facts about last weeks game are incorrect. Our softball field WAS ready to play on, on Thursday May 7th. Our baseball field was not. YOUR school made the decision not to send a bus to Gallipolis with only the girl's team on it. For you to even possibly think that a coach(s) would give up a home field advantage when it is rightfully theirs, tells me that you must be a new mom to high school sports. Good luck in your tournament game on Wed. I hope when the game is over that your whole team will shake hands with the opposing team and coaches. It did not happen tonight.
