Fifteen members of Gallia Academy High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame Committee held its first meeting of the year in the school cafeteria on Tuesday, March 22.
The HOF committee announced the 2011 Hall of Fame induction ceremony would be held on Friday, Sept. 16, prior to the Gallipolis-Marietta football game on Memorial Field. The 2011 HOF banquet will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, in the GAHS cafeteria, beginning at 6:30 p.m. HOF committee officers for the 2011-12 school year will be voted on after the 2011 banquet.
Deadline for accepting nomination applications for the 10th annual HOF event is Friday, July 1. Individuals may obtain applications from the school’s website. Applications should be mailed to committee president Rusty Saunders, 2577, State Rt. 141, Gallipolis, Ohio, 45631.
The committee will meet on Tuesday, July 19, 6:30 p.m., at GAHS to vote on the 2011 HOF class.
Male applicants eligible for membership this year are those who graduated between 1925 and 1987. Female applicants eligible are those from 1975 to 1992.
In other matters Tuesday, member Dan Mink said he has contacted The Park Front Cafe to cater this year’s HOF banquet on Sept. 17.
Since Dan Davies, local jeweler retired earlier this year, the committee announced David Tawney would take care of the 2011 HOF plaques this fall.

The committee is searching for a picture of the late Danny Howard, who was inducted into the GAHS HOF several years ago.
