Lib Union 2 Valley 1 Lancaster Regional semi's

Post by ManitouDan »

LU's Sara Klopfer was dominant in the circle, but B Dillow matched her inning for inning. Klopfer , Ohio Classics 16u ace struck out the 1st ten indians she faced.. while dillow held the lu in check. top of 6 Klopfer makes a mistake and senior leader Lauren Dunn hammers it over the LC fence for a 1-0 valley lead. The O got going for LU in the bottom of six. leadoff single, wild pitch puts runner on 2nd with no outs. LU bunts , valley takes the out at 1st but blue ruled the 1st baseman pulled her foot (???) So 2nd and 3rd , no outs with the 4 hole hitter up , I was thinking WALK HER , but she hits the 1st pitch hard at 2nd base who goes to 1st for an out as 1 run scores to tie it , Valley attempted a pickoff after the throw to third and the throw went wide allowing the 2nd run to score. Valley went 1-2-3 in the 7th.

Klopfer was great with super placement of her riseball, kept it right at the top of ther strike zone where it was hard to take. She is a junior . i think they take on Rock Hill for a trip to the big show. MD

PS Rock Hill is 20-2 with their only 2 loses to a d-4 school from Soda Co ohio.

So Valley lost in Baseball tonight and lost in Softball earlier in the season to the Pirates it is clear that they continue to be second fiddle to the burg! We hear every year that this is the year to beat the burg(in every sport) (and in every grade) but it almost never happens. I recognize the accomplishment of being in the regionals, However until they figure out how to get pass the mental block against the BURG ( In all sports) they will never be considered a contender in southern Ohio Conference Division 2! Good luck with because in the future the talent coming in all sports are amazing! Maybe you should go back to SOC division 1 and play the schedule you played in the past that made you think you could compete with the big league players! Just a thought!

valley girls won the conference and the last time I checked Burg was in it. I think Burg was around last year for Valley's SOC championship. not right to hate on the team that has clearly been the best in the county the past 2 years. maybe you can argue that angle in the football forum. this is the softball forum. give credit where it's due IMO. then what your comments are crazy. Valley is almost always a contender in baseball. They finished second is that not contending. Where were you at in the past when Northwest, Minford, West, and Valley were beating the burg in baseball and softball. Yes burg baseball has had alot of success the last several years, but the softball team has been down the past few years. Maybe the burg softball has some mental block going on against Minford (0-3) this year. Has burg softball made it out of the sectionals the last few years?

Liberty Union beat West Liberty-Salem in a state semi today, 1-0. They keep winning the close ones but they'll have to play an undefeated team in the finals between either Bellville Clear Fork (31-0) or Warren Champion (25-0).

my guess is the winner of the CF-WC game takes home the championship. WC is led by Lindsay Swampas , very hard throwing ace for the Arkon Sapphires.

that 2-1 lead was blown out of the water in the 5th. After the first batter was retired, Champion scored 10 runs in the inning!
