This guy makes hitting seem like "Rocket Science". I need to quit coaching HITTING if this guy is correct.. BAT PATH, is he saying that your bat path is to stay the same on every pitch, whether fastball, change up, or movement pitches?

I believe, the most important part of a swing is approximately 6 inches prior to contact point to the finish. DON'T CARE HOW YOU GET THERE, BUT THAT IS WHEN THINGS MATTER. I teach, that there should be a gradual incline from that point to finish, but I want that incline created by TOP hand, not BOTTOM.. I hear many talk about lifting with bottom hand, I believe that leaves opportunity for a power pitcher's velocity to overpower bat speed on the barrel.

Just my thoughts, but I know I won't teach it as scientific as he displays... Maybe I need to learn a new technique  , NOT!!!

I was bored at work yesterday , I dont even remember which one I posted . I'll go back and view it when I can . There are a bunch of people out there who can make hitting sound like nuclear fusion . And it doesnt have to be . Just agreement on the big points , weight shift , true rotation ( not just twisting ) , hands above ball at contact .

went back and watched the vid again . I didnt hear him say anything about keeping your bat path the same for every pitch . FWIW I didnt think he made sound like rocket science at all. I'm of the school that the bottom hand is far far more important than the top . The top isnt providing any direction at all. It's the path of the lead elbow that should be flexed until right at contact ( lil' dependent upon pitch location ) And its the bottom hand , not the top is whats connected to the lead elbow . I'm not in the camp of " take your top hand to the ball " . Not what I teach. The bigger picture is that there is still a ton of old baseball guys , and a ton with no experience at all, telling every young player in the youth league's SWING LEVEL . I dont adhere to that .. You swing somewhat level when the pitcher throws you a belt high meatball. But if you are supposed to SWING LEVEL -- How do you hit a knee high strike ? you dont , you reach that pitch with proper bat angle . Elbow above wrist , wrist above barrell of bat, regardless of pitch location . Have to keep the hands really really high to effectively hit those good riseballers .

maybe another way of wording what I believe is that as the lead elbow follows the correct path then the top hand is along for the ride or direction of the bottom . .. top hand follows the lead of the bottom ..
