South Webster cancelled the game at home with Minford due to players sick/injured. Rescheduled for Tuesday May 7.

More controversy involving umpires. West scored a run and the next batter was in the box when Valley's coach comes out and says the previous play resulted in a foul ball. The umps went with it without actually having seen the ball roll foul.

And Valley wins 1-0. We have some terrible umpires in southern Ohio.
That is the second time this week West has lost 1-0 in an SOC matchup on a controversial call. The unfortunate part about this is that the umpires allowed a coach to make a call for them after they admitted they had not seen the ball go out of play. In that case, every coach in the area needs to wear a blue jersey to every game just in case the umpires miss a call.

Nice WIN Warren!
Is the Carpenter (pitcher) girl still playing for Marietta? I couldn't remember if she was a senior last year or this year.

Thanks sharpie. It was a battle for sure. Jensen was a fan at the game tonight....pretty badly bruised but good spirits as usual.

A player from West hit a short popup that wasn't fielded by Valley. She was safe at first, a runner scored, and another runner was safe at either second or third. The umpires said nothing, and the run was scored in both the scorebooks and on the scoreboard. When the next batter came up and stood in the box, Valley's coach runs out of the dugout and says that the ball rolled foul without being touched. The umpires obviously did not see this, as they didn't call anything, yet they ruled the ball foul. The batter had to come back, ultimately popping out, and the runner ended up being stranded.
Nobody paid attention to the ball, so nobody could determine whether or not it actually had gone foul. Personally, I believe that the fielder actually touched the ball before it went foul, but that's besides the point. The problem I have is that the umpires allowed Valley's coach to make the call himself. They did not see the play, and from their judgment, a run was scored. Yet, they changed their mind because of a complaint from a coach.

If it was foul I don't have a big problem with it as the right call regardless of how it went about. Scoreboards and score books don't determine and the batter in the box does nothing either.
We had a ball the other night against us get blooped with heavy spin pretty high and over the pitcher's mound......no one caught it and it shot towards the first base bag but short of the base but looking make it foul and our 3rd baseman picked it up about 2 feet from 1st base right before it was possibly going foul. Would've been the craziest foul I had ever seen, but I believe the ump would've easily called the play had she let it go.

That's a big "if." The umpires were basing their call entirely on the coach's word. Obviously, in his mind, the ball went foul because the other team scored. You can't just be making calls based on what the home team's coach says though.

I have to agree with Buckeye... first of all, you can't appeal a foul ball, the umpires should have made the call when it happened, not when a coach decides to argue that late after the play, then he wins the argument?... that's crazy. Rather it was foul or not, if the umpire didn't call it foul when it happened, its a fair ball, he should have at least made a hand signal if it was foul or ask the other umpire if he seen it. No rocket science here! On top of all that... always stick to your initial call or no call "blue", rather its wrong or right! I wasn't there, but it sounds like you got robbed!
