Teaching a changeup..

Post by Karma2 »

Anybody know of some pitching drills to teach a young pitcher a changeup? The pitcher has been trying the flip change but it is either too fast or travels about 10 feet. Any help teaching this changeup or a different changeup would be appreciated...thanks in advance.

My daughter has tried them all. She is going with the circle change. Below is a link to some good info. The speed difference they list seems a little extreme. My daughter's fastball is at 58 and her changeup is 43-45. I've been told that's about right. If she is really serious, I would recommend finding a pitching coach.

We went through the same when teaching my daughter to throw a changeup. The circle change álmost seemed easier for her than the flip. I think it's more effective too. Good hitters see the flip in the arm and know it's the flip change. YouTube them and see what works best. We've added both to her pitching.
