Ohio hasn't had a private school state champion in softball
Ohio hasn't had a private school state champion in softball since 2004.
There will be no private school champion in 2015. There are no private schools in the final 4 in the four divisions. Only four private schools made it to regionals (4 out of 64).
NO CRYING FROM THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS THOUGH. NO WHINING LIKE PUBLIC SCHOOL FANS WHILE CALLING FOR SEPARATE TOURNEYS

WOW!
We really should expand the State tourney two more divisions, at least in softball.
(Two private divisions)
And give the Catholic schools a chance to win something......
Just joking NWCatholicFan
Your point is well taken by the X.

I think Wheelersburg from Scioto county made it to the finals. They are a public school.

This is nice. It has saved me the leg work of looking up to see if he/she did this same thing last year. Thanks!

The fallacy of the false alternative.newarkcatholicfan wrote:There will be no private school champion in 2015. There are no private schools in the final 4 in the four divisions. Only four private schools made it to regionals (4 out of 64).

If for some reason you feel this fact of no private schools playing in the final four of the State softball tourney thereby proves or disproves some notion of equity or fairness with respect to public versus private schools, you may want to reconsider this notion.
I could argue this public versus private debate forever (either side) and probably pretty effective each way, but the final four softball teams in 2015 being public has nothing to do with the price of eggs in China.

Private schools don't stand a chance. The private schools have God on their side. That's the explanation.

Since 2004 is a long time.
Classy on their part not to whine like the Public school(fans) do every time they do not win one)

Who and where are these fans that whine every time?

Are there any decently competitive private schools at softball? I've generally understood travel softball participation to take second fiddle to travel volleyball.

Sure .. Portsmouth Notre Dame went to 2 elite 8's the past 3 years . And I'm sure there are a few others that have cracked the final four .

That's one. Who do they meet in the regional? The Central District feeds into that regional and at D4 most of the schools from Central District are privates, yet the perennial powers at the district level are public schools Danville and Berne Union. The "population draw" argument is commonly used against Newark Catholic, yet they probably have one of the comparatively worst softball programs in Licking County given they are flanked by two final 4 public schools (Granville and Lakewood). Having some familiarity with the four private school programs in Licking & Fairfield counties, the amount of girls doing travel softball is far less compared to their neighboring public schools, successful and unsuccessful. In summary, I'm not surprised by the generally low regional and state placings for private school softball programs given the coincidence with travel volleyball season.ManitouDan wrote:Sure .. Of course the private schools aren't whining...they dont want to bring up the fact that they have a competitive advantage and still can't win. Not classy, just smart!
