Congrats to Peebles and Notre Dame girls. Edge to Peebles here in my eyes, fewest mistakes here.

The game is on that radio station 103 , on line .... game is in delay .. Umpires stopping the game to examine Cassie Schaefer's bat .... I hope she doesnt loose an AB with runners on 1st-2nd .. would be very sad ( wonder if she has used this bat for 25 plus games and no one said a word ?? ) The blue has called in a OHSAA official to make a ruling , stopping the game in the top of 1 .

They called Schaeffer out for an illegal bat ? What a load of manure . I dont mind the rules being followed .. they should be . But where has blue been this entire season ? In the sectional and districts ? We get to the Final 16 teams and now they want to do things differently .. thats not right

Can't blame officials for a player using an illegal bat. Maybe none of the teams protested the use of the bat during the regular season.

Do you know if peebles protested OR you are a making an assumption that could be wrong ? I'd guess blue just decided to get involved as opposed to Peebles protesting.

EDIT: From what I am hearing it was Peebles who caught it.

If you dont have a problem being " LEGAL" until the regional semi's and now its illegal I dont know what to tell ya .. In case you need reminding i clearly stated " the rules should be followed" but if you are not going to enforce a particular rule for the entire season dont start doing it now .

What happened to the pre-game equipment inspection ? Or was that bat kept in the bag during it?

I cant remember if HS's do that or not , certainly was a large emphasis in college, they examined them closely before every game.

I believe they quit that practice. Responsibility falls on coaches.

PS no way Schaefer tried to hide a bat . I know the girl , thats not how she operates.

It was never a "LEGAL" bat, it was an undetected illegal bat all season. You should be upset that all the umpires in Southern Ohio allowed her to use an illegal bat all season.

In near exact words that what I said . Speaks volumes to the umpires the past 27 or so games.. but who cares in the 5th inning of beating New Boston 18-0 ... you get to the point of the final 16 with runners on base and the umpire wants to inspect 1 girls bat ... but I guess it was just random , I'm sure he happened to glance at it and stop play . With ND's best hitter up to bat .. as I said I'm 100% for following the rules , but dont decide to enforce something that hasnt been enforced for 20 some game , then start enforcing it . I'm just sad for the kid . Shouldnt happen to any player like that .

game update .. Peebles 1-0 in the 5th .. not a lot of offense.

Shouldn't use illegal bats no matter what type of player you are. I'm just curious as to why the bat was illegal?
