The team I saw YESTERDAY, could beat OH. I did not see Piketon play Huntington or Zane Trace. But I know this the team beat the second place team in their conference by 21 and 18.

Maybe they had a bad day, just like the Vikings did on Saturday.

I watched Piketon play once this year against Unioto and I was impressed with their talent. They have some great ballplayers. I really like how hard Southworth plays, I think he makes the team click with his energy, rebounding, and intangibles. I do think they are the most talented D3 team in SE district, however, I don't think they are the best TEAM. I noticed some individuals out there playing selfishly at times. Coming from someone who played in the state final four, you can't have that if you want to go far in the tourney. I noticed Coach Lisath (who is a class act coach) getting frustrated at his players. During the timeouts, he was saying "make the extra pass." Finally, towards the end of the game, Lisath seemed like he was fed up and looked emotionless. I hope this talented Piketon ballclub rallies together for the tourney, if they play together they can make it far, if not then well......you know, you go home.

I'm just going on what I saw during that particular game.

As for Vinton County, I think they are a good team with a very good coach. They obviously had a terrible night and were missing Prater. I'm not saying that they would of won with Prater in the lineup though. They have had a few good wins this year. As for going far in the tourney, I doubt it. In order to go far in the tournament, most (not all) teams; have to play well as a unit, have players or player that can take over a game, play in tournament tested close games, play a tough schedule, and sometimes get crushed at least one game for a nice little wakeup call to reveal areas of weakness and improvement. Well, Vinton definitely got beat pretty bad, plays well as a team, and played in some close games. I just don't think they have the talent and schedule that prepares them for teams like Chilli, Logan Elm, Marietta, and maybe even Warren (depends which Warren team shows up). I hate to say that because I played in the TVC and I like to see TVC teams do well, but I've been around alot of talent and played on/watched good tournament teams to know whether a team will be tournament tested. Now, I will be the first one to admit that I very well could be wrong, but I'm just going on some common denominators I noticed that great tournament teams have had in the past.

Good Luck Vinton and Piketon.

If the Vikes played in the SEOAL, they're record would be much different than 3 losses in 3 years. I know you beat Jackson, and I believe you have Gallia coming up. But what is your record over these past same 3 years against DII schools? Just got beat by a mediocre DII Waverly. I'm not trying to bash VC at all. Combs runs a nice program. But until you beat some quality DII's I think you will always have some critics.

If my math is right. In the past 3 years VC is 26-3 vs D-II/D-I schools. with 2 losses comming from Chilli, and 1 from Waverly this year.

Still waiting to see that record against DI/DII schools over the last three years. I know the above is incorrect.

Vinton County's losses of the past 3 seasons are;

Chillicothe - 2006-2007 finished 22-1
Huntington and Chillicothe - 2007-2008 finished 22-2
Zane Trace, Waverly and Piketon - 2008-2009 currently 14-3

By my math it is currently 23-3 against DI/DII schools.

Please enlighten us if either I or ball hound is incorrect.

Did you just say Oak Hill could'nt play with Piketon???I've watched both teams a few times and Piketon is deeper, but that is it!!Oak Hill is the better team.

Minford handled Piketon in a scrimmage this season. Oak Hill recently beat them by 40. Oak Hill would beat Piketon handly and it doesn't matter that they are D-4. Piketon is more athletic, but that is it. Legg is good. Onedera is better. Oaks have advantage inside and would get Piketon into foul trouble. I'd also give the advantage to Oak Hill for preparation and gametime adjustments (tough to say as I am not a Norm fan).

Oak Hill by 15 over the Redstreaks.

Huntington, Piketon and Zane Trace are all DIII schools. I just would like to know, what VC's record is against DI and DII schools only.

Ok Llama I am confused! 23-3 vs. DI and DII schools. So you are saying VC has played 26 games against DI and DII schools over the last 3 seasons? Just trying to clear this up in my mind! Are you buying you boyfriend lunch today? LOL
Thanks bud!

Good Luck to the Vikes tonight!

What I would like to know is how many D-I-or D-II or D-III Players is on the team of Oak Hill from other schools or maybe I should asked that about Piketon's team.

That's 26 games 44% of your last 3 regular season games against DI/DII teams? That's a high percentage since you have only two DII schools in your league. (Meigs and Athens) I have tried to find your schedules from the last three years, but obviously I'm not smart enough to find them.

OOB and JJ, after work or later tonight I will post the last 3 seasons and their results. Then it is a matter of identifying the DI or DII schools we have played, and you guys can come up with a number yourself. I know for sure we have only 3 losses to DI or DII schools. Chillicothe twice and Waverly this year.

Certainly not what I was told. Anyway, who cares.

Bottom line: I've seen the Oaks and Piketon several times this year. The SOC2 is tougher than the SVC(my opinion and I have no direct ties to either conference) and I am telling you that Oak Hill is a much better team than Piketon.

Sorry...may not be popular with Streak fans but that doesn't make it incorrect.

Off the top of my head;

Logan 1-0
Athens 5-0
Meigs 5-0
Waverly 2-1
Philo 2-0
Jackson 3-0
New Lexington 2-0
Warren 1-0
Washington CH 1-0
Greenfield 1-0
Chillicothe 0-2

that equates to 23-3

Thanks Hawkeye! In speaking with your lunch date this afternoon, we were able to come up with most of those opponents that were DI or DII over the last three seasons. I am confident that your numbers are very close. However, I would like to see you post the last three seasons to quiet down all of the nay sayers!

I believe Soloman was using what is called "sarcasm". So many idiots place such importance on what division teams are in when it really isn't that big of a deal.

Sorry, hard to pick up on sarcasm when looking a computer screen.
