He's a fine young man. I'm sure Doug and Linda are proud.

Congrats JD! Well deserved.
I am sure the newspaper headlines will be better than when your dad accomplished the feat.
When Doug did it, the headline said: "Hale scores 1,000, Oaks Lose"

Heard from a fan last night that J.D. joins his dad, sister and uncle in joining the 1,000 point club at Oak Hill.

Very nice job, young man. Well deserved. If JD gets the ball in the paint you might as well put 2 points on the board.
A few people on the Burg-OH thread are trying to make Burg out to be the bad guy by not stopping the game. Did someone from Oak Hill inform Coach Barrick or anyone from the Burg that this might happen in the game tonight? If they didn't then those few need to let it go, get on here and congratulate the young man and move on.

Re: Congratulations JD Hale 1,000 Points
Usually, coaches pull their player before he scores his 1,000 away so he can do it at home, but NOT in that game
!
Barrick did that for Camden Miller his senior year, and then next game,Miller scored his 1,000 in Burg's gym.
Sometimes, when the event happens away, unless the visiting team makes specific requests and has everything arranged ahead of time, no one can assume the hosting school knows anything at all. When Burg's Drew Spradlin scored his 1,000 point vs Oak Hill, he was not in his home gym, either, (Convo) and no one acknowledged it, except maybe the announcer. He waited until his senior year at the first home game at Burg and they honored him at a pre-game. Didn't matter. That's just the way the ball bounces.
Still, nothing should diminish the pride of the moment for Mr. Hale, his mom and dad and his family. He doesn't play ball for ceremonies and pats on the back and hoopla. I am sure it is an honor with great pride for the young man, and he will remember that one special shot the rest of his life, regardless of if anyone stopped a game or anything. (I hope Ruth or someone snapped a picture of it for him?)
And, how cool is it that his dad and sister and so many other family members have the same honor! Maybe they can all get together, wear their school colors, get a picture taken in the Oaks gym and hold a basketball with 1,000 written in large print on it!
Sincere congratulations, JD Hale!

Re: Congratulations JD Hale 1,000 Points
Congrats!
The current Oak team could have 4 1,000 point scorers (not at the same time but before their careers are over).....but Borden probably can't make it now.......but being all-SEOAL as a sophomore and going over 20 several times versus the best SEOAL teams...I know he could've in a different situation.
Congrats again to JD.

Congrats JD and anyone who knows the family and this young man knows that they love the game of basketball and play it as a team players and want the best results for everyone and not themselves. I have no doubt that younger sister Taylor has the makings of a 1,000 pt scorer as well.
Once again congrats to JD.
