Thank-you WBEX crew for broadcasting the game. Couldn't make it to the game. Was able to listen to it on the radio. Sounded like the gym was really rocking, from both schools. Ohhhh the tension.
Great game guys and not losing focus. Michael Turner.... you are a beast!!!!! Keep it up... A great game to listen to.

Re: Chillicothe 70 - Reynoldsburg 67 OT
A few stats and comments from the game.
Turner leads Chilly with a career high 26 points. He was totally on fire in the second half and overtime. He told me, he just felt like everything was going to go in. I know he hit at least 4 three balls.
Dawes followed up Turner with 14 points and 9 boards. He also had a huge assist and a high post pass to a back cutting Gregg V. If Seth took the normal amount of shots that most excellent high school shooters take he would average 20 plus points a game, but he hardly ever takes a bad shot. In fact, I can't remember the last one he took.
Knights has 11 points and dished out 7 assists. IMO #3 hurt him early with some big time threes and drives to the hoop, but Caleb shut him down the rest of the game. With this being the 5 game in 8 days, I know his (and the others) legs had to be heavy, but he continually takes the other teams best perimeter player.
Vanvolkinburg did not have many points, but as I told him, he played an excellent all around game against a team that is athletic as we will see this year. Not only was Reynoldsburg athletic, but for the most part were very disciplined and ran their offense. Their bigs and guards could jump out of the gym. Gregg kept quite a few possessions going with offensive rebounds or tap outs. He also played excellent D and helped force a few steals.
Ron Smith looked extremely tired and in fact, I believe he told the Asst Coaches, he was having trouble breathing. Coach K. kept him out most of the 3rd and 4th quarters as young Mr. London got extended playing time. This will help out big in the long run.
Donta Thompson played big minutes in the first half and provided some energy for the Cavs. I call him Vinny Johnson because he is like "Instant Coffee" and will try and light it up. He got to the foul line and hit a big bucket early. In this pressure packed game, Coach K. kept Turner and Knights on the floor the whole second half and overtime. IMO Donta will play big minutes Tuesday at Waverly to help the starters get some rest.
Malik London. The young fella continues to impress me. In the JV game he was matched up early with two 6'6 plus bigs. In the varisty game, he was matched up with much shorter, but extremely strong and high flying post people. I thought he held his own and his thunder dunk in the second half (along with Turner and Dawes 3 ball parade) helped ignite the crowd and the comeback from 8 down.
Coach K. - I have said and will continue to say that Coach K. flys under the radar. What he has done for this program is next to unbelievable. To raise it from the ashes of despair to a respectful program to a State Championship and know to a team that lost most of its scoring and experience (except Dawes and Knights) and are sitting at 14-3 with a chance to win the league for the second time in 3 years. With two losses coming to teams that will advance in the tourney and the third at Warren in a game that was a nightmare. Night in and Night out, these kids play hard and compete. They truly have learned how to win and are getting it done. There is a chance to still play alot of basketball and tonight proved that we can play with very solid teams. Reynoldsburg would absolutely smoke most of the teams in the SEOAL (except Zanesville) and most teams in the Southeast District. As a 10 seed in a 40 plus D1 District in Columbus, this team could make a decent run in the tourney.
Cavs need some rest tomorrow and Monday, then it is off for 3 more games in 5 days. I can't believe I am saying this, but I look forward to the drive to Zanesville next Saturday (assuming it is factual that we are a lock to play for 1st in the DOC). Nothing like playing Zanesville back to back games to get ready for a tourney run.

For the folks that make the drive to Zanesville, it's a must to eat at Adornetto's on Maple Ave. Italian Restaurant that makes it's own pasta. Best pizza and pasta that I have eaten.
Great game by Chillicothe. Seems like when Chillicothe can score with out struggling, with the way they play defense, they can be very formidable. It sounded on the radio that maybe they wore Reynoldsburg down alittle. Reynoldsburg struggled in the last 1/2 of 4th quarter and OT to score (defense?). If Turner can continue to score like that, it opens things up for others as well.

tbreeze,
Thanks for the tip. If indeed we are playing the Blue Devils in teh DOC, I just might make that stop. Nothing like a good Italian meal before a potential battle of strong Southeast foes.
As for the Reynoldsburg contest, IMO, Coach K. changed up the momentum by trapping and speeding up all all ready lighting fast Reynoldsburg team. I think it played into our hands because we got a few turnovers from players that were not handling it that much. Gregg V. played an excellent defensive game on the perimeter in the second half. I am just glad that Reynoldsburg did not look to #34 (Reggie) who absolutely was dominating in the paint and around the hoop last night. Also, I believe that Reynoldsburg own Free Throw shooting woes hurt them. Neither team shot well from the line, but we hit some clutch free throws (Turner hit two huge ones).
GO CAVS!!!
