Football - 2007.

Baseball - 2003.

Boys Basketball - 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004.

We did that with basically the same size enrollment as Federal Hocking and we played in the Ohio division, not the Hocking.

I think Belpre knocked the TVC Hocking baseball champs (Federal Hocking) out of the state tourney a couple of those years too. ;-)

They were only the TVC Hocking Champs in one of those years (2006). :-D

2006 = upset (might be the best team FH has had but laid a big egg that evening)
2007 = legit; Belpre pounded the ball that day.

FH is spread out over a large area and with no central town. They are athletically attended like a D4 school, though it seems Belpre has been lately as well.

I have to agree. Federal is spread out over a large area. That has an adverse affect on kids playing sports. They make the most out of the number of kids they have that come out to play. You have to tip your cap to the kids and the coaches.

If you think of this there have only been three teams in southeast Ohio win State titles in football and one of them resides in the TVC N-Y . I would have to give the Buckeyes the slight edge just for that. I am going on Football for my selections ,because after all its football (American)that rules the sports world.

Now for my take on Glouster . I went to the MVL arcives and found out they own the longest losing streak in that league at 35 in a row. That to me eleminates them right there. I know Nelsonville struggled in the SEOAL as did Meigs ,Wellston but NEVER 35 losses in a row.I think that the SEOAL and the MVL are very compairible leagues.

old man i know it is hard for you at your age but try to keep up with the times buddy. that was glouster in the mvl. we are trimble and owners of the titletown tvc award. but dont be upset cause maybe your rockets will some day win a few tvc titles of their own. until then, come on up and we will let you look at our trophy case.

To me titles mean STATE TITLE the only one that matters, therfore that means NY(football) if one is to consider only "major sports". or Alex(girls volleyball) if one is to consider all titles. And don't tell me that those girls at Alex don't consider volleyball a major sport>

I'm sure professional table tennis players consider their sport a major sport as well.

Which sports get consistent national TV coverage on ESPN and the networks? Those sports are your major sports.

ok football i will agree with. a state title gives credit. but volleyball is a stretch. not as bad as track, but still a stretch. as for major sports, we are talking tvc here are we not? i am not seeing the comparison to pro sports. if you just count the number of people attending games you will quickly see what the major sports are in high school, which is what the tvc is. track and baseball are not well attended.

I do have to agree a little about the state title in track. I remember when it happend. I also remember there being about 15 to 20 belpre fans at the meet. and that is stretching it.

You misspelled "Trimble baseball is not well attended."

yes trimble only has 8 people at most games. ferd hack had 11 at a game last year which shattered the record and forced their AD to take his shoe off to count them all.

You are sadly misinformed in regards to FH. They usually crowd the area behind the backstop and then fill the left field line with people. When FH plays Alex, Southern, or Eastern the place is packed. Put those people in a regular-sized TVC gymnasium and the crowd looks much bigger.

Also, in comparison to football, I would argue that it is more difficult to get the "casual" fan to come out to 27 games during a 1 1/2 month period than it is to get their attention for 10 games over a span of 2 1/2 months. The schedule makes football more of an event. Same time, same day, each week.

BTW, the TV decisions in regards to pro sports reflect the values of the society. Our society values football, men's basketball, and baseball.

i have been to ferd hack games and they have no more people than anywhere else. talk about all of society all you want, but we are talking about the confines of the tvc. even if ferd hack brought in 500 people a game, which is about 490 more than they do, it would still leave the rest of the tvc with their usual 5-15 fans. that would leave baseball far short of the major sports. and to argue against you, baseball is played in some great weather for many games. no rain, and a lot of times the temp is in the 70's. much more attractive to fans to attend an outside event. but they still dont turn out, cause high school baseball is just not considered a major sport unless you coach it or your kid plays it. i play and i dont think it is a major sport. nor do any of my teamates, or any opponents i talk to including many for ferd hack.

That really is not an accurate assessment of baseball attendance. I went to an Athens game last season and I can honestly say there were at least 20 people there. 22 if you count the umpires.

Athens is too solid of a program to deserve that, but I don't believe you unless it was a Saturday DH.

You probably saw what appeared to be a "sparse" crowd and assumed it was 20 people. However, when people are outdoors and spread out over such a large area, the crowd looks small. If you were to pack those people into Eastern High School gymnasium, the crowd would look much bigger.

I'm not arguing that baseball attendance is on par with football or boys basketball in general. I am saying that it is clearly bigger than some make it out to be, and is clearly the 3rd most attended sport other than a rarity like girl's sports at Alexander.

The last Trimble/FH game I saw at Glouster, Trimble was terrible. They had about 15-25 people there for the game. FH had about 25-30. Sheesh, my family probably made up 7-10 people alone.

Hey Waterford has a chance to win a TVC title so how bad is this league anyway? Maybe it is so bad cause all the coaches and players, and ex players, are on here arguing with each other instead of practicing? I sure would not brag too much about winning that league unless it was in a girls sport. Nor would I brag about being Titletown TVC if I were Trimble.

koondogger wrote:When Berplee on the state in track only 4 schools offered the sport. I dont see how that is something to brag about. Besides claiming the most TVC titles simply because you have been in the league longer than anyone doesnt seem very credible. I heard you guys formed a league by yourself and didnt let anyone else in for about 10 years which meant you won the league in very sport during that time and gave you you such a head start that it will be awhile for a real winning school like TRIMBLE can catch up. How have you done in the modern era of divisions?

Just my thoughts guys!

Proud to be the Varsity Basketball Coach of Titletown TVC!

1969-1979 - 31 Titles
1980-1989 - 34 Titles
1990-1999 - 35 Titles
2000-2004 - 17 Titles

Very evenly spreadout through the "old" era and "new" era. We have been in the league as long as Nelsonville, Vinton County etc.

Better take another trip through the Brickyard Drive-Thru for some more Beer, Guns and Ammo koondogger so you can get your thinkin going right.

That's pretty impressive so until someone can provide facts pertaining to "real titles" Belpre is the real "Title Town."
