It looks like that NY vs West will be at NY with some of the numbers starting to come in.
Re: Final Athens 24, Nelsonville-York 21
Congrats to the Bulldogs. Hard fought game on both sides, shame someone had to lose. Good luck next week, wish I could go watch but I gotta go support my Buckeyes.

Re: Final Athens 24, Nelsonville-York 21
My thoughts ----
The positive -
One of the greatest games of all-time. This one will surely be talked about 20, 50 years from now.
NY shot itself in the foot in the first half, falling behind 21-0, but showed heart to come back in the second half and take it to overtime.
This game makes me believe that Athens is NY's true #1 rival. Sorry Trimble - if you ever were NY's #1 rival, those days are long gone.
Teams that go 10-0 don't necessarily dominate in the playoffs. A good example is Wheelersburg. The Pirates often lose to Ironton, yet go on to have long, successful playoff runs. The Buckeyes can still put together a nice playoff run. In fact, Athens could have shown NY some weaknesses that can now be corrected before the first playoff game. It is better to be exposed BEFORE the playoffs and correct those mistakes than it is to be unchallenged and shocked in a one-and-done playoff game.
Even though the 2011 Buckeyes will not join the ranks of the five undefeated Buckeye teams of years past, the 2011 Buckeyes can still make its own history with a nice playoff run.
I'm pretty sure the all-time attendance record at Rutter Field was shattered tonight.
A positive for Athens - the Bulldogs got it done in the end. They didn't choke like in years past.
Even if Athens is twice as big as Nelsonville-York, this is still a great rivalry game.
The negative -
If NY plays in Week 11 like they did in the first half, the Buckeyes could very well be one and done in the playoffs.
If Athens plays in Week 11 like they did in the second half, the Bulldogs could very well be one and done in the playoffs.
And finishing off on a positive -
If NY plays in Week 11 like they did in the second half, the Buckeyes could have a long playoff run.
If Athens plays in Week 11 like they did in the first half, the Bulldogs could have a long playoff run.
Good luck to both teams in Week 11 against whichever team you may play.

Yeah it will get set hard but Brag Athens you beat a good team 2 levels below you.
Yeah they was undefeated but still 2 levels so you beat 3 div 5 teams and so you are a Juggernaut.
Yes brag because you dominated teams lower than you.

To answer a question asked on the other thread, yes Athens did add two former Senior soccer players to the team this week. We have had soccer players who wanted to play both sports at the same time but the soccer coach wouldn't let them due to fear of injury. This season we had a couple of kids who wanted to help out after soccer season ended and man did that ever work out!
Re: Final Athens 24, Nelsonville-York 21
Congratulations to both teams. It was one hell of a game just wish it would of turned out differently. Both teams played a great game but Athens played better tonight. Congrats to Athens for going 10-0 and winning the tvc. And goodluck to both teams in playoffs.

And the BS begins. I guess it was a no win situation as was speculated on earlier, if Athens wins its because we are bigger and if we lose we are terrible for losing to a smaller school.maniac66 wrote:Yeah it will get set hard but Brag Athens you beat a good team 2 levels below you.

Thought I'd post this here since the other thread is locked for some reason. You can always change the header if you created the thread to put the score on it.
From the other thread:
Congrats Bulldogs on a 10-0 season, home playoff game (hopefully) and the outright TVC-Ohio Championship.

The better team won tonight, plain and simple, if it was played tomorrow, it may have been totally different. They are that even.

Really? I didn't realize there was a limit. I wonder how the Wheelersburg/Lucasville Valley got to 15 pages?
Re: Final Athens 24, Nelsonville-York 21
Bulldogs win. Bulldogs win. What a classic. 2010 TVC Champions and playoff bound. So proud of this team..The Prognosticators were sure wrong on this one.

It looks like Jackson @ Athens next week is a strong possibility. If Jackson beats Athens next week, Bulldog fans will NEVER hear the end of this from some posters. More comments along those lines.
