I think shanks will get it but after seeing smithson play these last few game... With the exception of last nights game.... I think smithson could get it too... But whoever gets it CONGRATS

I believe Tibbs from Sv is hands down the best player in the league. I know this award normally goes to the best player on the conference winning team, but who would that be?

To me, Shanks has underachieved at times. Is he clearly the best player on his team????? At times...maybe. Others....NOT!

Therefore, I would give it to Osborne. The Eagles will get second in the league and he has led the eagles to an 11-7 mark. Not a knock on the Eagles players, but Osborne does not have a Smithson or Penwell on his team. To me, that is the player of the year. A player that helped his team compete against and even win some against more talented teams.

Just my 2 cents...

poy is for what it stands for what a team does should never come into play.you should always use the players stats for the season and who is ranked higher in the state by there stats not team record or it would be called toy not poy I dont know what each players stats are but the one who has the best stats should win take the politics out of it stats are the only way to decide.but all the kids up for it are very talented

I agree with Eaglesnest on this one---Osborne is the best all round player in the league---the player should be considered for what they do defensively and offensively---not just by the number of points scored each night---I agree it is POY not TOY--team should not decide and politics should not factor in.

All the players mentioned are talented in different ways----Tibbs is a great shooter---but lacks a defensive game.

Its been a fun year and its good that we have so many talented players---therefore good luck to all.

Smithson and Penwell were also starters last year.

4 of Easterns starters this year were starters last year.

I must say I agree with everything that has been written regarding this post, but I must say it can not be finalized by stats. I am not saying that all coaches or if any do, but stats can be padded.
I feel the politics should be out of it and the final decision should be based on the quality of LEADERSHIP!!
In what I have seen this year, I feel it should come down to Smithson and Tibbs.

how can you make an assumption on leadership unless you have seen every game, practise, etc?????? and obviously most coaches only get to see these guys at a max of 2-3 games per season--so it would be hard for any coach to vote regarding a players leadership

I think it should be shanks. He and tibbs i think its a two horse race with the edge to shanks. And i think that carrying your team to a better recoerd is a key componet in selection.Basketball is the ultimate team sport.

Smithson is the best player on Westeren hands down. Smithson works hard the whole time.
I do not believe Shanks gives near the effort as Smithson. I am an ND fan but I have seen enough in two games. Either Tibbs or Smithson. Osborne and Shanks --- honorable mention.
