Did the Woodard or Woodward kid play for Saunders or Bok as a head coach?

Coach Tressel could do better than Thad is right now. :122249 Really GA is not Big Ten so I don't see the comparison. But since you brought it up, I don't see coach T on here telling everyone how many games he won, or that he can get kids to run through brick walls. The guy I am referring to has no problem doing that all the time on here. Thats why I think he is the kind of confident, young, proven winner that GA needs. He is obviously a master motivator, with the brick wall thing and all. He wins at every sport he coaches. If you ask him he will tell you that, and even if you don't ask him he will tell you. That is the kind of confidence they need at GA with the SEOAL breaking up and all. Get the swagger back. Who knows what the future schedule will be like? This guy could have those kids hypnotized and believing they can beat any team in the state in no time I bet. Give him a chance and I am confident he will have those football players running through brick walls even without their helmets on. And if they will run through brick walls for him just think what they will do to the opposing teams. To me it is a no brainer. Just saying.

According to this evening's local newspaper, 15 have applied for the head football coaching job at GAHS.

The district's athletic committee will meet Monday evening to interview the prospects.

Wonder who they are?

I truly believe that it will be someone from outside, and it might be best that way. Good Luck to the group that is making that decision ......

The easiest way to simplify this process is to let the coaches be coaches and teachers be teachers and if they are capable of pulling double duty, great, if not great but being a teacher doesn't make you a coach and being a coach doesn't make you a classroom teacher. I know, I know the unions and stepping on toes and all that, I am for unions but this paticular situation is ridiculous. I would want my child learning football from a football coach and learning classroom lessons from a qualified and certified teacher. Seriously is that asking too much??

Yes, but a "coach" must be a "teacher" first. That does not mean that a good math teacher would be a good football teacher, any more than a good football teacher being a good math teacher. There are a lot of guys out there that know the game, but can't teach it to kids. Most of the time a trained teacher is able to get across to the kids more effectively because of their training. But there are those math teachers out there that could be rocket scientists, but can't teach a lick.

Maybe this is a tangent...

Are there kids out there that can't learn math a lick, though?

Or are they all perfectly malleable little learners waiting for Edward James Olmos to come and inject them with the calculus gene...

Obviously, he never taught in SE Ohio.

A football culture = A successful program

Unfortunately, this equation applies to those communities that had the foresight years ago or who were lucky enough to be successful right out of the blocks. Most communities are not patient enough to allow a guy to build a program into a success over the long haul. At Gallia, whom ever gets the job will win games because the community expects it, the parents (grandfathers, fathers, uncles and brothers) played, and the boys will want to better than the last generation.

I heard the search committe has narrowed it down to former Permian H.S. coach Gary Gaines (played by Billy Bob Thornton) and former T.C. Williams H.S. coach Herman Boone (played by Denzel Washington).
Former ESU head coach Sam Winters (played by James Caan) was too late in submitting his application.
I'm surprised this hasn't made SportsCenter yet!!!!
Somebody call Chris Berman!!!!

I have talked to him and he said he didn't think he was interested, but if he was Donnie Johnson would be a great hire. However, I doubt that will happen

"Head Coach does not have to be a teacher ."
That's true..... But in GAHS's case' he better be.....There are to many applicants within the system that are qualified.. I just wonder who the applicants are that are not teachers??????? The salary would be something around 5000$, hard to believe a good coach who is not a teacher would work for that.......
