34-35 BVille Final. Great year Vikings. Wasn't at the game, but sounds like they had 2 touchdowns called back.

I've got friends at the game that have been updating on Facebook. SV had the ball at the end of the game, about a minute left, stuck in a 4th and 13, didn't convert. Not sure, but sounds like they had recovered an onside kick to get the ball for that final drive. Congrats to B'ville for a great victory over a great Viking team. Good luck in the next round.

Who the hell cares about your picks?
GREAT season Symmes Valley.

too bad this game wasn't on TV somewhere. hopefully i'll see highlights somewhere tonight. that finish reminded me of the 32-31 Beallsville win over Columbiana back in '94. Nice job Blue Devils. Can't wait to read the story on this one.

Congrats to Symmes Valley on a very good season and one more time I take my hat off to Rusty Webb and the program that he's got rolling out there in Viking Country. Great season coach and great season Vikings!

Re: D6 R23 Semifinal: Symmes Valley (10-1) vs. Beallsville (
I was there tonight. Dave the riverboat gambler showed up, and it paid off. Symmes Valley shot off numerous toes tonight with mistakes and turnovers, they were physically bigger and they really didn't exploit that very much until the second half. Beallsville's DB's couldn't tackle grandma in her wheelchair if their life depended on it. That kept SV in the game, for sure. I knew that the blocked PAT in the third quarter would come back to haunt the Vikings, and it did.
Wow, Blue Devils were much smaller than SV, but their skill players made a huge difference. So many missed opportunities for the Vikings, there were at least two pick six chances and your DB's dropped the ball. On the other hand, the Beallsville QB threw some outstanding passes, and his receivers dropped the ball on numerous occasions.
I have to say, that first Beallsville TD on the fade route to the corner was an absolute work of beauty. I am not sure if I've seen a HS QB throw a prettier fade throw to the outside shoulder towards the corner of the end zone.
Great game, both teams played with high effort, the Blue Devils just made fewer mistakes, and Riverboat Dave won with his gamble. Beallsville's pass defense, and perimeter defense, have ALOT to be desired. SV took advantage of the Blue Devil's inability to handle the option and pitch sweeps, when the Vikings ran to the left. #34 made a living running to the left, and just about killed Beallsville. SV's pass defense also had alot to be desired. They simply could not stop Beallsville when they had to. Beallsville stopped themselves on a few occasions.
Great game, and the redo on Rutter field is impressive. SD was at the last game played at that field by the Bulldogs before it got destroyed (their loss to Warren), so this was certainly a fresh perspective for this ol' boy.
And to my old friend Gibby, three things. Nice job tonight announcing, you did a super job with the Beallsville player's names, some of them can be a challenge. Second, figure out where the kill switch is on the microphone when you aren't announcing, it was no fun listening to all of the noise in the press box and sidebar conversations when the game wasn't going on (someone said not to read other games scores because "these people don't care" obviously whomever said that did not hear the Beallsville crowd roar with the Shadyside score that was read at halftime), and third, the refs are miked, let them talk. That one instance was really not good when there was a holding call on SV and no one knew it until the refs were marching the Vikings backwards.
Great night of football. Congratulations to the Blue Devils on their win tonight.

Sorta sounds like what happened in the Jackson-Alder game last night Steely other than the score being closer in this one.Steely Dan wrote:I was there tonight. Re: D6 R23 Semifinal: Symmes Valley (10-1) vs. Beallsville (
I'm going to say this and people are not going to like it, but this is my honest opinion. Whether Beallsville won tonight, or Symmes Valley won tonight, I truly believe that next week will be the end of the road, regardless of who won. I just saw too many holes in each team's game tonight, to honestly think that either one of them would advance after next week. Putting either one of these teams on the field with Marion Local would just be too painful to watch. That's the reality of the quality of small school FB in SEO.
Folks get all wound up and pissed when people speak the truth (like FOS, Paladin II, and moi), but we are not saying this to hurt people's feelings, especially the kids. We are just being realists.
Beallsville moves on to next week, but I'm guessing that will be the end of their invites to dance. Just sayin'.

In my opinion, most people don't have a problem with what you are saying. The only problem is with the way it is said by some posters. I felt that your opinion was given very respectfully and that is a credit to you. There is just one particular poster that can't say anything without being totally obnoxious and we all know who that is. He has his own set of problems and just chooses to belittle people as a way of acting out.Steely Dan wrote:I'm going to say this and people are not going to like it, but this is my honest opinion. BWH - That is totally fair, and I respect you sharing your opinion. I'm not trying to discredit any programs at all, I simply believe that we need to look at things realistically in terms of SEO football and realize that there is alot of ground to be made up before teams from SEO compete consistently for championships.
I am full tilt behind Valley, I like their chances. They may be that once in awhile team that can make some noise really deep into this tournament. Let's hope so!
Believe me, as much as it pains me, I'll be rooting for Beallsville as well, but I just don't see much success for them next week.

I, too think Valley will win next week because if West could have thrown at pivotal times last night they would be playing each other, not Wynford. I personally don't want to see Valley draw Coldwater in the semi's but you gotta do what ya gotta do !!!!!Steely Dan wrote:BWH - That is totally fair, and I respect you sharing your opinion.
