we will have to replace 10 starters at offense. At qb you got a couple options in will howard and zach shope, which ever isnt your qb will probably start wr. there are a ton of wr in the soph class, baker, shope, clark-holbrook, garrett, and brice jordan, we should be good there. the line will only have 1 returning starter in jj, brandon zimmer should be healthy, hayden dunn played both on the line and te this year he is also the long snapper. brandon jordan and nate arnett will rotate at rb. on defense we will have to replace 9. i can see jj having to play both ways next yr along with brandon zimmer at dt. at the ends i believe hayden dunn will get the nod the opposite end is up in the air. at lb arnett and jordan return, i can see will howard moving from cb to olb. the other olb in my opinion would be dakota baker, he quick and has some size to him, and will flat out play. the secondary would consists of shope, holbrook, and brice jordan. all 3 are very fast and arent afraid of layin the lumber

Many senior players will not be here next year.

A few returning starters that I can think of are: JJ Hettinger on the line, Nate Arnett at backer and RB, Will Howard at corner (possibly at QB), and Brandon Jordan at backer and RB (Wasn't exactly a starter this year, but played a good bit).

We will be a young team next year. I don't expect anything close to what we had this year, but who knows, I could easily be surprised about wht happens. Either way, I'll always be a fan.

There are some VERY good young kids coming up, and with a mix of what they have sticking around...decent team. They now have a winners mentality, which will help in the future.

Not sure if we will contend but we will compete. Lot of very good talent filling these senior spots. Most of them will be juniors next season with a few seniors. Just watching the JV games this year and last year show me that this current sophmore class will step up and fill slots fine. Just my opinion, but i think our D will be outstanding maybe even better than this year, but our O may take some time to adjust and get better. I think Shope will fill QB slot just fine and he can play the spread.(No where near Yates level yet, but he is getting better). I think our biggest challenge going into next season will be trying to replace Yates. IMO all the other positions should be alright. But all these boys know how to win and get over the hump. And another thing. I have also watched all the 8th grade games and we have an Outstanding group of 8th graders coming into the high school level next year. Valley will have very good athletes (that know how to win) from Seniors all the way down to Freshman. Think we will have another good year next season that may surprize a few people.

You can't begin to replace the "skilled positions" but I think the biggest challenge will be in replacing their offensive linemen. Next year's problems will be similar to Burgs this year. Shears was outstanding but he didn't have the stud's up front. Valley will probably face the same type issues. It all depends on NOW and HOW the REPLACEMENTS work in the off season! IMO!!

It's going to be tough to reload for 2012. I don't see much depth on the line, but we do have some talented and athletic individuals coming up but they don't have much experience aside from special teams. With that being said, all season long, these kids have been on the scout team playing against Valley's best team and that has only made them better. And as much as I hate to see kids who aren't quite physically mature playing varsity, it will be interesting to see which freshman will get some time.

I've heard we've got a good freshman class coming up. There's only one problem...They're freshmen. You put them out there on Friday night under the lights and the nerves could easily get to them, especially when playing against guys 2-3 years older than them. If they can overcome those nerves then they should play fairly decently. The first few plays that they're in will be the most heart-pounding plays of their lives. As the game goes, they should calm down and play some fundamentally good ball.

TheNatural, you made a great point about the scout team players. Playing against the starting O and D must have made those players better.

Can't wait 'til the season starts!

Wheelersburg was in nearly the same position last year as was Oak Hill. Oak Hill's season didn't go so well. The Pirates ended up at a respectable 7-3. I don't know what Valleys schedule looks like next year but Wheelersburg only played 3 playoff teams and lost to all three. The younger players just weren't able to compete with senior led playoff caliber teams. Burg's young kids got shoved around on the line by almost every team and had trouble tackling without help. Valley will probably face the same thing next year. Oak Hill's 2-8 or Wheelersburg's 7-3? I look for Valley to be somewhere in between maybe 6-4.

What kind of pee-wee system does Valley run?

Brice had some good runs with the Varsity this year. Hard work in the weight room would go a long way over the off season.

Last pee-wee game i saw looked like they were running just a simple I-formation unless they have changed something in the last few years

That's the best way to do pee wee, IMO. Valley will be tough next year. Not as good as this year but will be hard to beat.
