Yes we did drop Huntington Ross and picked up Portsmouth. Maybe in the next couple years they can change their schedule some and drop those two teams and pick up some better competitionizladoom wrote:anyone know when we can drop south point and rock hill from the schedule? did we drop huntington ross for portsmouth?

Re: 2012 VALLEY INDIANS
yeah i want them to pick up some better teams. with the teams we play if we loose one game its hard to make the playoffs. i heard playing portsmouth is only a 2 year deal i hope thats not true tho. i would love to see this be long term. does anyone know whats going to happen to the northwest game once the change divisions? i have always liked playing them cause they was so close but then again the games have been so one sided that i would not mind dropping them too. im not sure it would feel right tho not having them on the schedule. is there any chance we start playing ironton? i know the middle schools play already. im not sure we would be able to hang with them that much tho. i guess we are kinda stuck based on location unless we are willing to really travel.
Re: 2012 VALLEY INDIANS
you can figure minford in week 10, but how the other dates play out I'm not surestarbase_318 wrote:The remainder would be Wavery, Burg and Minford
If you can go by what the paper said, Northwest was going to stay on the schedule, but anything can change between now and then.izladoom wrote:yeah i want them to pick up some better teams. with the teams we play if we loose one game its hard to make the playoffs. i heard playing portsmouth is only a 2 year deal i hope thats not true tho. i would love to see this be long term. does anyone know whats going to happen to the northwest game once the change divisions? i have always liked playing them cause they was so close but then again the games have been so one sided that i would not mind dropping them too. im not sure it would feel right tho not having them on the schedule. is there any chance we start playing ironton? i know the middle schools play already. im not sure we would be able to hang with them that much tho. i guess we are kinda stuck based on location unless we are willing to really travel.

Re: 2012 VALLEY INDIANS
I don't see an issue with scheduling Ironton or any other team for that matter. Developing mental and physical toughness will go a long way in achieving long term goals. Are area teams rigging their schedules to make the playoffs or are they scheduling for playoff success? I'd rather play the Trojans every year and lose than play Huntington Ross and a couple of the OVC teams. At least you know even a down Ironton, Portsmouth, Jackson, GAHS, NY, etc...will be better competition, year in and out!! Traditionally, the Burg has a tougher non-conference schedule than the rest of the SOC II. Traditionally, the Burg mops up on SOC II teams. That hasn't necessarily been the case the past few years but overall, they WIN!! The remainder of the league produces one shot wonders and fall back to the pack. Why is that???
You gotta believe you belong or you are just pissing in the wind!! IMO!!

Re: 2012 VALLEY INDIANS
I don't think its about rigging their schedules, more like getting battle ready for a playoff run. Agree about dumping those OVC teams (keepin CG) and pick'n up Ironton, Jackson, GAHS,NY will only build a better program. It's always been a SOC 2 team must go 10-0 ,9-1 or even 8-2 along with winning the conference to make the playoffs. Maybe with NW heading outta the SOC 2 next season, the ball will start to roll in building a STRONGER SOC 2 . I'll take my chances playing stronger teams to build a better program that can and will compete against the so called powerhouses of the north. IMO........." THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!" somedaystarbase_318 wrote:I don't see an issue with scheduling Ironton or any other team for that matter. 5-5 will be a good record next year for the indians. if crabby goes 500 or better then he should get COY for the effort. way to many kids leaving to expect anything better than that

VALLEY WILL REMAIN UNDEFEATED AT HOME AND POSSIBLY LOSING ONE ON THE ROAD ON NATURAL TURF (SOC2 MATCHUP) IN 2012. THE 2011 TEAM LOST ALOT OF SENIORS, BUT THERE IS JUST A MANY UNDERCLASSMEN PLAYMAKERS THAT WASN'T SEEN LAST SEASON, AND IT'S THEIR TIME TO SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS TO THE AREA THAT VALLEY WILL REMAIN................SOC 2 CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :122246 :122246
Re: 2012 VALLEY INDIANS
5-5 is not out of the question. with burg west minford portsmouth coal grove and chesapeake all being hard games. i think 7-3 will be more likely but i would not be surprised with 5-5. most of the soc teams was young this year so should be better. i think west looses a lot of boys too but they seem to handle that better than most teams. if one of the qbs step up we could surprise some teams. the running game will be strong again. no matter what happens i will be at every game cheering them on.
Re: 2012 VALLEY INDIANS
Its tough to have a great season trying to replace so many senior impact players even if you are plugging in talented underclassmen, just ask West a few years ago. Crazy things (good and bad) will happen in games when there is inexperienced players stepping in. Not that is possible to reload, but in a small D5 school there is usually a dropoff in talent and too think that two more guys will step in and replace what two all-state players in Yates and Keller did last year is not logical. For what its worth, I think Valley will be around 6-4, maybe better, maybe worse. I could them losing to Ptown (who should be improved), West, Minford, and maybe Burg or Coal Grove. Of course, with them having young talent they might win a game or two they shouldn't

Agreed. Look at Oak Hill this year. It is hard to replace that many starters in high school football, especially in a competitive league like the SOC II.
Portsmouth will be better than they were last year. West and Burg will be tough. Minford will be much improved and Waverly will be a solid team. Coal Grove will be tough, not sure about Peake.....they may lose alot after this year also.
3-7 to 5-5 is very realistic. Not a knock to Valley, but they lose a very talented class of football players. Extremely hard to not have a down year or two after the run they had this year.
