Great Job on pulling this out, Warriors.

It really didnt ever feel like Warren had the game in the bag until maybe the last few minutes...good effort all around.

Convo here we come!

Thursday, 8:00 PM........rematch with Chilli???

Way to go Warren!! If Grant can play like that every game we won't ever get beat. Also Austin needs to stop throwing his hands in the air after he throughs the ball away like it is his team mates fault.. Is CHilli's 6'8 freshman back.

I don't think Chilli's 6'8" freshman ever saw the floor this season, actually, due to grades (its just so hard to either get that 2.0 or get the teachers to change some marks!)

Playing Chilli isnt a given, let's give Northwest a chance (albeit a very small one) in that game...

Good win for the Warriors. Keep hitting the boards and remember that DEFENSE is the name of game from here on out. .....GO BLUE!!!

yes he played. and he will from here on out....i think unless you know about the grade situation, you should keep your comment to yourself.

warriiorfan wrote:On the contrary!!! There is not ONE Warrior who needs to have a great night... instead, about 8 players who need to play their ROLES! Nothing great, just their ROLE - allowing the game to come to them!!!

Maysville game... Chilli game... Our best 2 wins this year... note the defensive intensity, domination of boards, and sharing of the basketball... real simple for the Warriors - TEAM!!!

TEAM! Warriors SHARED the ball & DOMINATED the boards... Most of the Warriors' points came off assists and/or offensive rebounds!!! Not much 1 on 1 tonight!!! :122245
Defense was ok @ best... Athens drove to the rim @ will... where's the help-side taking charges? :122248 Better defense will be required to advance!

Way to go Warriors!!!

Athens has 2 guys that can really get to the basket, but if Warren's defense was average at best, what does that say about the Bulldog defense.

spartan - Not saying anything about Athens' D, just the Warriors.... they can/need to play better! Agreed - couple Bulldogs were quite quick, but most teams @ district will have 2,3 probably more quick guards!

Very impressed w/Athens' effort and their coach's management of his team! Only one game, but seemed like he tried to nip negative attitude/sportsmanship in the bud! Refreshing to see!

Work Hard Warriors!

The Marietta Times has nothing on the game, at least not online....

The Messenger has an article, but I dont suscribe to the Messenger, so I can't view it online.

Anyone from Athens willing to post the article text and stats?

I, too, was very impressed by the way the Athens coach handled his players and the style they played, Athens was trying very hard to get Warren to fold in the 4th...

A good victory for the blue..played aggressive but under control, shot over 50 per cent and controlled the boards against an undersized opponent..give it to athens they never quit and went down swingin'...well balanced attack with venham, 5coait, and cunningman scoring...heb will show up big on the big stage on thurs and warren will get to beat I mean play marietta to get to the reg...

You have to remember Chili was without their 6'8 frosh last time we played them and don't count out McClain.

Marietta still has to beat Jackson and McClain. Obviously neither game is a gives as Marietta lost to Jackson this year in the regular season at Jackson. And Warren will have their hands full playing Chilli on a bigger floor at the Convo. Not an impossible game for Warren but I'd have to be betting on Chilli.

The point wasn't that warren hired the refs I know that they did not. The point was that the refs helped warren win the game. And often times schools have the same refs for many games and many times these refs are local, not always but it happens a lot. And I never claimed that Marietta has had the best refs in the world....but your pointing out a difference in officiating from one school to another basically contradicts your previous point does it not?

the refs at the the chili game were from the Columbus area, one had to travel 2.5 hours to get to Vincent, I spoke briefly to one at halftime....its the only time any of them had been to Vincent....they are well respected....oh well while that game is over but Warren did play great lockdown zone defense and Chili didn't even attempt much from outside until the 4th quarter when they made their run....it was the best game overall Warren played this year...yes their big youngster is back, also Venham gets better every game....he is averaging 20+ the last several games....hopefully the Warriors will play well and be in it at the end, if not a long night at the Convo....

gahs is 100% right.

etta, what you were thinking and what you typed must have been two different things. ive read the post many times and i get the same impression that gahs got. also, if you know how the refs were assigned, then your last post was even less thoughtful.

i'm gunna go with long night at the convo. even if venham does play well chilli is too much for warren playing on a neutral site and on a bigger floor.
