Scioto Valley Conference All-League

The official list will not be out until later this week, but here is how I ranked the players on my website.

What do you think?

I like your choices. Unfortunately rumor has it that 1 coach had Roll listed as the 7th best player and that alone might have knocked him out of contention for POY.

False rumor. Nobody had him off of the first team.

That's good to hear. On the other hand anyone not having him in the top 3 is a joke.

I like your 3 teams...seem dead on. Personally, I think Maxwell and Gibson are the best all around basketball players. Roll is the best offensive player. But all of those five are very good!

Agree he should be in top 3...but I think the same can be said about Gibson...not in the top 3 is a joke.

I respect your opinion. My opinion of Gibson is that he is a very good point guard and defender. But not a real consistant offensive threat. Roll averages (according to SVCSportszone) more points, steals, FT% and FG% than him and probably more rebounds. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Gibson on my team any day, I just don't think he is the better of those 2 in comparison. IMO POY should be who has the best stats no matter where there team finished. It seems like the coaches always want to pick someone from the team that wins the league for that honor and it's not always true. Anyways, congrats to all those who were chosen and good luck to all on the tourny trail and in there college plans.

Congratulations to all players and Coaches on the list! This is a great accomplishment for all!

Congratulations to the Piketon basketball program as a whole!!! We are building a strong program from top to bottom, and we have shown it! We're not finished yet, now we have 7 more games to go!

Congratulations to Cody Smith for EARNING the POY award! I feel you are very deserving of it. I don't call you "Mr. Clutch" for no reason!

Congrats to Jordan Brabson for also making 1st team. He very well could've been POY, as well. He's a tough matchup on the boards and scoring...

Congrats to Evan Legg for 2nd team as a sophmore. The skies the limit for this kid, and he has proven he can handle the rock against the best and perform at a high level against some amazing pressure. He could be POY the next two years! He has shown the ability to quarterback the team, play solid defense, and score as well when needed. My opinion, probably doesn't look to score enough.

Congrats to Caleb Southworth for 3rd team! This kid very easily could've been a first teamer if you look at defense alone; my opinion he is the defensive player of the year. I said preseason, he would be the surprise player out of this talented team in the conference. His athleticism and work ethic is maybe the best I've been around as a player and coach. Keeps getting stronger as the year progresses...He's only a junior!

Congratulations to Kenny Helton and Keenan Brush for Honorable Mention. Kenny is a senior leader who has sacrificed a lot to play a key role for this team. His senior leadership has been very valuable for the team; going to miss him after this year. Keenan is a sophmore, as well, who has unbelievable talent; His presence in the paint as a shot blocker allows the team to play freely. He is still learning how to play at a high school level, and when he becomes consistent, he will definitely be moving up the list. He has a lot of expectations put on him, but I believe he is capable of rising to the occasion. Scary!

To Coach Lisath, Congratulations... Learning a lot from you, and I think whoever doubts your coaching ability, they don't know much about building a program. You are a leader; and you don't play politics! I appreciate the fact that you keep it real with each player no matter who they are. The championships speak for themselves...We're not finished!

Congratulations to the fans of Piketon...The support has been outstanding all year long! Your presence at home and on the road (even at Columbus Mifflin) has been a huge lift for the boys, and they hear you cheering them on. We need to continue the reputation and build on it...Piketon Fans were SVC champs, too!

To the other coaches and players...We're just getting started. Not many care for Piketon outside the village; but like us or not, we're not going anywhere for a long time...Good luck streaks! Believe in yourselves, and lets bring a state championship home for Piketon and the SVC!

The all-league players (boys and girls) had their banquet tonight. I want to say congratulations to Paint Valley's Matt Workman since he was unable to attend. This scheduling conflict should have never happened.
