Well I was sizing up there coach in the hall way, because I was going to bump into him, but he was 4 or 5 inches taller than me so I went around him. Them are some big boys.
The program heights are usually a little bit off. The starting lineup for NA is Unger-6'4", Louden-6'4"-6'5", Jimison-6'2", Rothwell-6'4"-6'5", and Nehus-6'5".

That's a very impressive starting 5. No one under 6 foot tall.

Portsmouth to athletic, they don't see this type of basketball over in the southern hills...
Pretty dumb remark. I've watch North Adams play and they are pretty darn athletic. I've also watched Portsmouth several times this year and it just depends on what Portsmouth team shows up to play. I blieve North Adams will end up winning by 15-20 points.
Sticking with the SHL! I believe North Adams can win by 10, however should be a tough game! Portsmouth has played some pretty tough teams over the season.
I'm taking NA. I'm going with coaching and experience. If NA gets any kind of lead, the wheels could come off for the Trojans. As far as athleticism goes, who ever said that NA isn't....needs to see them play again! They can get up and down the floor, and they will definitely crawl up in ya and play defense. Dave Young will have a good scouted game plan. I'm sure he wasn't happy seeing Portsmouth a 9 seed!
like posted above, North Adams is a very good team, and has beaten Portsmouth a few times in summer ball.
that being said,I hope our kids realize that, and realize, they have to work hard in practice to prepare for a team, they know are good, and listen to what the coaches are telling them.
we need for a couple gys to have big games, to have a chance at winning this game.
I think this game comes down to a couple of things. irst and foremost, how will the game be officiated? And if it is alowed to be physical, which Portsmouth team will show up? If the game is called like a girls game, North Adams will win at the free throw line.
After watching the Minford/Portsmouth Game I believe North Adams will still press them 2-2-1 for a portion of the game and drop back into their 2-3 zone with some occasional man to man. Can Portsmouth consistently hit the 3-ball? Can Portsmouth make good decisions against a zone press or will they put their head down, overdribble, and make poor decisions? Also, how deep is Portsmouth's bench? I believe shot selection will be a major factor for Portsmouth in this game because they are not going to get a lot of offensive rebounds. Im not sure of the answers but I think North Adams wins by 5-10 points.

Portsmouth can win this game with 4 good quarters of basketball........I am familiar with North Adams personnel, having seen them play PHS in the summer and in preseason scrimmage. The Green Devils have a size advantage with the exception of Anthony Williams, but I believe the Trojans have the edge in quickness out front.
Andrew Bendolph, Tory Horne, and Forrest Johnson will be asked to handle the full court pressure of NA. Bendolph will be the key in my opinion, and from what I saw last night vs. Minford I am strongly encouraged that he can get the job done. Breaking the NA press could result in some quick buckets at the other end for the Trojans. If need be, Portsmouth can hit the 3 ball......we have had several games of at least 7 made 3 pointers.........and Anthony Williams has had only 1 game in which he didn't score double figures........and he's also good for double digit rebounds every night out.
My main concern in this game is the Trojans' defense.........will we come out and play with intensity and focus?.........This is the perplexing question that many have asked of this team........athletically, we can hang with anyone........but at times the effort on the defensive end has been lacking............another important factor will be how the Trojans rebound.........boxing out hasn't been a Portsmouth strength this season........but they will have to get good position against the taller Green Devils.............
Portsmouth can win this game.........North Adams is a very good team........Unger and Jimison are as good a guard tandem as the Trojans have seen all year.........and Rothwell can create problems inside........but we have the talent to win our first sectional in 5 years.
Does Williams ever get into foul trouble? I would imagine that he likes to block some shots and leave his feet, maybe go over some backs? Who has played a half court zone against Portsmouth and how did they attack it?
jimmy chipwood: Williams rarely gets in foul trouble......if he does, senior Zack Link will be his replacement........Zack has done a nice job for us this year.......he's not spectacular or dominant like Williams can be, but can make some plays.....and he's very athletic, having advanced to the regional finals in the 400M last spring.
Portsmouth has faced A LOT of zone defense this year......starting with Greenfield McClain in the very first game.........the Trojans outside shooting is much better than in years' past, but shot selection is sometimes questionable.
