Re: SEOAL Predictions
I dont think Jackson will finish last at all.
i say
1.)Logan( of course)
2.)ironton(always good)
3.)Jackson
4.) Tie between chillicothe and Gallia
then so on and so forth
i understand with jackson getting a new head coach everything is going to be new at first but one thing everyone cant forget is that the kids havent changed at all there still backing up their program 100% and I believe Jackson can do well this upcoming year, Now i didnt say undefeated but the could have a 6-4, maybe 7-3 record

Re: SEOAL Predictions
if you look at the schedule for this up comin year it is VERY possible that warren can be 7-0 going into the "BIG 3" games of the season...that is...Logan Chilli and Ironton
belrpe
morgan
south
marietta
point pleasant
meigs
portsmouth
all winnable games...the last 3 games are also at home...warren was perfect at home last year although there were only 4 games played. i look for warren to be at least .500 this year finally. 7-3 or 8-2 are looking more and more possible. last year a 5-5 record would have given the boys a chance at the playoffs...im not guaranteeing anything but...this team is coming around...we'll just wait and see what they can do.

other than marietta seems like your schedule looks like you could just schedule 8th grade teams and nobody would know the difference

Re: SEOAL Predictions
Marietta used to open with Morgan every year. P. South is AAA. Point was in the league at one time, and we all played them before. Belpre will never come off the schedule because of the gate. Meigs is the same size as Warren, but in the TVC. Portsmouth is in the league.
Marietta's AD had a brain fart and over-schedule them last year. Just becaue you played those teams and lost, does not make you a better team.
If I'm not mistaken, Marietta played St. Marys, WV back in the 90's???!!! That's A in WV! Also, Marietta played Hannibal River back in the 80's D6, and lost!

I got money that says meigs gives them a good old fashion but whoopin!!!!!!!!!
And you never know about Portsmouth they may suprise some people this year.
Re: SEOAL Predictions
Pt game could be very tough for Warren but they have a huge "if" factor that is involved. One player really makes them a scary team and things have been really quiet about the one guy. He is special! Last 7 games could be very interesting! Good to see some optimism from the WHS faithful again and even better to see them making strides.
As far as predictions for next year:
Logan
Ironton
then a real shootout for the rest but overall more parody this year. JMHO

Re: SEOAL Predictions
Here's my in-depth take on the 2009 SEOAL:
Ironton
Logan
Portmouth
Gallia
Chillicothe
Warren
Marietta
Jackson
Ironton has a good "team" this year and should be exceptionally strong on defense this season which hasn't been the case the last few seasons. Big ?'s are at offensive skilled positions, which as a sidenote won't have a Murphy for the first time in nearly a century. Look for a mentally and physically tuff group of Tigers this season. I love years that end in 9 as a Tiger fan!
Logan should be incredible again with undoubtably the best player in the SEOAL in Pat Angle. He is the best QB I have seen since Nate Davis and hopefully get alot of deserved statewide recognition this season. Mays will be tough to defend again as well, but Logan has alot of ?'s on D. Interested to see how the LB's are without Morgan and Adams or the end without Neff. Will Angle move back to DE this season?
Portsmouth will be vastly improved this season. Nothing like losing 9 with youngins to get experience and a thirst for winning. The Trojan athletes are always incredible and this year is no different, but they will have tested leadership in Josh Myers on both sides of the ball this season. He is gonna be one of P-town's best ever before he is done. This is a scary Portsmouth program that shouldn't be taken lightly this season.
Gallia is always a gutsy team that overcomes adversity and injuries to win ballgames. Hopefully this season they can stay healthy and have one less hurdle. The offense returns alot and Kruize Wandling should spearhead that effort. The defense has less returning, but Dylan Hunter is a tough assignment for anyone. Good luck to my second favorite team!
Chillicothe without Caleb Knights? Did he finally graduate? Offense lost a ton and will probably struggle, especially early. Defense is in a little better shape with the man in the middle Netter, but how is he without Ron Smith?
Warren, Marietta, & Jackson all have their issues. Warren can probably be summed up in 3 words this season: Pritt and Wolfe! The Warriors will be as good as they are on either side of the ball. Holy Caleb Knights, Marietta will not have Cody Westbrook. I can see Perry Wheeler being one of the best backs in the SEOAL this season, but what is he surrounded by? Looking forward to seeing him and the "other" Tigers on the river this season. I hate to think that Jackson will finish last, because I love the town, people, facilities, and SONIC at Jackson, but man did they lose alot including a coach. How do you replace a Cody Huff at Jackson? Well, you don't. Derick Meredith is the only skilled player that returns and 2 LB's on defense in Haller and Landrum and that is about it. Here's to hoping I am wrong Ironmen!
GO TIGERS!!!

Re: SEOAL Predictions
Warren could be the surprise team of the league this year, after looking at their roster from this past season they will return allot of starters and have a good nucleus to build around.

1987chieftains wrote:WHAT ALL IS WARREN BRING BACK FROM LAST YEARS TEAM?
Warren returns most of the skill players, and has added some senior-to-be WRs...wolfe and pritt will once again anchor the run game and linebacker spots, and our defensive backfield will be in the hands of juniors who gained valuable experience last fall.
We lose the most along the O and D lines, however, Seniors arbuckle and alfred have been helping the underclassmen to perform to high levels in the weightroom, and hopefully it will pay off on the field. Punter grant venham returns, and, as per Warren tradition, senior soccer stud Jon Michael Starner is rumored to be kicking for the football team on Friday nights this fall (kid's got one heck of a leg)
Having the coaching staff back for the third consecutive year can't hurt, either.

In days ending in "y" since the new SEOAL was put in place Logan is undefeated in League play.

Re: SEOAL Predictions
After a growing period last year at Portsmouth, they will challenge for the South title. But Logan will win the overall title in the Seoal as should the biggest school by far in the conference.

I would first like to remind grizzly that Logan students are from all over hocking county. We only have one school building (that i know of) from another district in the county, and it's about two hundred yards from the border. We even get kids from southern perry county. We're a big district.
That Logan Ironton game is going to be amazing, if you live in either city and you're not there, just get out. You need to move somewhere where no one else cares about football. A full house without a doubt.
I am distressed by the fact that everyone is counting out Warren. When I saw them against Logan, I was impressed by their size. They were a taller team than Logan, and their speed. Logan didn't look a lot faster on the field. Warren wasn't outclassed as far as strength, just out techniqued and out schemed, and once you get over the physical performance hump, the mental performance factor is a lot easier. I'd look for Warren to go in the 6-4 to 8-2 region, and challenge late for playoffs.

Chillicothe will be fine in 2009.The Netter kid will be fine, alot of people is not giving this team a chance.Yeah!!! we lost Mr.Knights and company but believe me there's alot fine Athletes, who are ready to play and show what Chillicothe's about.
