trojanofthepast,

There was no excuse for how the Trojans performed last year. How can any team who has 2 D1 linemen and the loads of talented skill players only win 1 stinking game? I have always respected Portsmouth but I simply cannot fathom how they went 1-9 last season with all that talent! For that reason I cannot convince myself that they will perform much better this year.

I understand your lack of buyin with this team. But keep in mind that 3 loses were by a touchdown of less. We had Jackson with less than 2 min left after Myers had picked up the first down to run the clock out we fumbled lost by 2. We had a touchdown called back in the second half at Warren and lost by a score. And was driving against Gallipolis and fumbled and lost by a score. Not that 4-6 is great but for a young team 4-6 wouldn't have been bad. They did what young team do, lose close games. That will change with the experience under their belt just wait and see.

How in the world can you have 2 divisions with only 8 teams?

As much as I hate to say it, because I want us to be in the SEOAL forever...well. Um, maybe Logan should look elsewhere too. If the OCC won't take us, we can make our own SEOCC with D-1 thru D-3 teams along Rt. 33. and SE/270. There are about 20 to choose from. NOT LIKELY!! Next, the travel issues we have are not much different now than they would be in the MVL either. There. I said it. I still taste it. Any other thoughts?
For now, GO CHIEFS!

Logan's current SEOAL winning streak is at 29 games.

Ironton's SEOAL record streak was 34 games (from 1971-1976).

The all-time SEOAL Winning Streaks:

1. Ironton, 34 games, 1971-1976
2. Logan, 29 games, 2004-
3. Logan, 27 games, 1998-2002

Logan and Ironton are the only teams to win titles in 5 consecutive years. Longest championship streaks:

1. Ironton, 7 straight (1978-1984)
2. Ironton, 6 straight (1971-1976)
3. Logan, 5 straight (2004-2008)

Logan plays 5 SEOAL games this season.
Jackson twice won 4 straight titles ('53-'56 and '95-'98) and Logan won 4 straight titles in 1998-2001.

Logan's first league game will be against Ironton.

They play Gallia Academy in week 4, but like Chillicothe in 2006 and 2007, the game does not count as a league game.

They will play at Ironton week 5, then a non-league game with Zanesville week 6, and then at Marietta, at Warren, vs Jackson, and vs Chillicothe to round out the season.

so the best logan could do is tie the current record because of only 5 league games assuming they win all their league games this year. wow, that would make an interesting opening league game the following year.

If I remember correctly. the battle cry at Gallipolis in 1976 was "34 and no more."

I think GAHS also snapped Ironton's 48-game league win streak with a 19-2 win in 1984.

Blue Devils paid for that win, going over 20 years before a 14-7 win at Ironton two years ago.

Jottings -

You have a sharp mind, because that even made the Logan paper at the time.

Logan is in no doubt the class of the league, they were not really tested last year other than the Zanesville game. With all the talent they have returning, they should dominate again.

looks like after this year with all of the seniors that are starting for logan, the pendulum could start swinging in a different direction. i am a fellow loganite and look for the purple nation to come back down to earth.

Sometimes underclassman don't do well but when they get with other classes and the coaching comes from the varsity level they turn things around. The soon to be Jrs. at Logan did very well has 7 thur 9 and when they were 9th graders (if I remember right] the only thing keeping them from a zero in the L column was injuries.

In recent years the SEOAL has had some good unserclassman doing well in 7 thur 9 and when they came to the varsity level things didn't pan out.

A lot has to do with the coaching and how the young boys turn out to be young men.

Loganlocos graduating Class lost ONE regular season game in 3 years. ONE. They were a great freshman team, TERRIBLE Junior high teams. Everyone growing up that has anything to do with football has a respect for coach Amyx and knows when you get to him that things are going to be different. Things wont be easy anymore, poeple work hard for him not always because they respect him but if its not that its becuase hes a very intimidating man and they are scared lol You wont see Logan finishing below .500 for a long time.

One bad class doesnt ruin a varsity program either. Take the class of 2007 for example. All of their "skilled position" players were done playing football by their freshman year. All that were left were basically a class full of lineman. The class before and after them were excellent supporting casts and made it all work out.

Warren beat Marietta 10 years in a row. Marietta has beat Warren now 6 in a row. It is not the Tigers or Warriors on the field's fault who is on the schedule. And sometimes you have to take who fits into the open date. Also PP was a playoff team in AAA in W.Va last year. So lets see Potato/Patato. Lets let the kids play the game and see how it comes out.
