From the Mansfield News Journal following Crestview's Week 10 win over Plymouth:

Mason Minnich, Crestview, named Athlete of the Week

The senior tailback rushed for 271 yards and three touchdowns on 34 carries as the Cougars completed an unbeaten regular season with a 28-24 win over Plymouth. Minnich rushed for 2,117 yards and 19 TDs during the regular season. The Cougars will play Grandview Heights Friday in a Division V playoff game.

I asked this in another thread, but looking at a map how is Valley and West playing Northern teams for region? thought region was where you lived.

That's the way it should be, but the geniuses in OHSAA figured for some reason that they would take northern teams, but them in a southern region and take some southern teams, put them in a northern region. The map is ridiculous if you look at it, region 19 stretches way up north, kinda close the Cleveland

The team from the South is slow, they play on a cow pasture and they have feasted on weak SEO teams. Just ask Ridgewood how the prison guard farm boys play the game!

I just love it when the teams from up North make these stupid comments. Last I checked, cows don't eat turf, which is what Valley plays on. What was the comment about just ask Ridgewood how the prison guard faarm boys play? Hey assclowns, Valley beat Ridgewood. Remember!!! That is why they are playing you morons. You can ask Ridgewood all you want, bottomline, they got beat.

I remember a few years back when Burg played Hamilton Badin in the first round, there fans were making comments about playing a bunch of farm boys and playing on a cow field. Well, Burg commenced to beating there butts and showed them just how farm boys play football.

Its funny that people from Southern Ohio have this idea that there aren 't also farms in the northern part to the state. In fact, Crestview also is a rural school in which most of its students are farmers.

As for those of you who watched tape. Thinking that Crestview is slow is a HUGE mistake. Their Tailback, Mason Minnich (#43) is probably the fastest RB in Division 5. If he breaks in to the open field.. Forget about it. He comes into the game with 2,330 yards on the season.

The Defense is a lot better than it gets credit for and is great against the run.

Also for their strength of schedule. Loudonville was 5-5 and lost to 3 playoff teams by one possession. And Fredericktown is one year removed from a Regional Championship. Oh and don't forget about Norwalk St. Paul, Recent State Champion and perennial power in DVI. All other small school teams are from their league.

Looking forward to a lot better game than people are anticipating.

yabba,

You're right! Our kids from this area have proven themselves on numerous occassions that they can play with the kids from northern and western Ohio.

Any local fans, not from Lucasville, interested in tailgating with us before the game...assuming Crab's Bro and company can get the tailgate organized with the limited space and rush hour traffic. I have faith in my friend that he'll get us all squared away and we'd love to have you all come join us and support the Indians against the Cougars!

Exactly!! A great tailgate party followed by a Valley win, and safe drive home for everyone makes for a perfect Friday night!!

A West win would be icing on the cake as well :122245 8)

A West win would be good but I am not so sure that is going to happen.Wynford looked really tough they are able to do the things that Valley did to beat West. They will have to contain their QB he runs and throws really well and he has got some size to him.West is going to have to play their game of the season. Thats my opion whatever its worth

Me either. They looked very slow and the QB wasn't very accurate with his throws. Of course that may have been because of the sloppy conditions they were playing in. It looked like #84 was his favorite target so Valley well have to cover him well. If Valley can limit the TO's I believe they can win this one fairly easily. I doubt they have played a team that has the speed Yates has or the power and speed combo of Keller.

Any idea where you guys will be set up for your tailgate? My father and I are coming up early so we can park close since he has a hard time walking long distances and we might be inclined to come by. I'll be wearing my Burg hat though, so you guys won't throw things at me, will ya?
