Someone said it depends on which ZT team shows up........must've been the one that beat 19-2 Piketon at Piketon and beat D2 17-4 Vinton County at Vinton County.

Impressive margin.

Wow Zt did whatever they wanted and Zt is an ok team but whoever peebles beat this yr they must have not been very good, and can see why Portsmouth gave North Adams so much trouble now with them being 21-0 weak conferance, Piketon was the best team in this Sectional, Westfall and North Adams up there but Piketon the class of the sectional.

Yes it was a great season for the Indians!! Maybe they overlooked Zane Trace a little, but to there defense they were not hitting shots that they typically make! And maybe this was a little karma after all the Indian fan's, which were rooting against the North Adams Green Devils last night against the Trojans of Portsmouth! And to think that Coach McFarland who done an excellent job with this group last year who took the same team to the District finals was let go after a great season! So maybe what goes around, comes around!

That game against Piketon was at ZT. But you are correct. When they are playing well they will be a tough out.

Now on to Fairland

Actually now on to Alexander.

Fairland will play North Adams; Zane Trace plays Alexander.

While Peebles is in the same "league" that North Adams is in, they are in different divisions; similar to SOC I and SOC II. North Adams won the "big school" division; Peebles won the "small school" division. NA defeated Peebles twice this season (both by double figures). Besides going 13-0 in conference, North Adams defeated a very good D2 Hillsboro team as well as Chesapeake.

If I were a Piketon fan, I would be less concerned about comparing myself with North Adams and focus on a very strong Ironton ball club that they will face next. I know the North Adams fans are more concerned with how they match up with a good Fairland ball club.

Evidently, not anybody that good.

Evidently they lost to undefeated North Adams twice and a very good Alexander team by 1 or 2. They were in both games til the 4th qtr. when they ran out of gas...stood a good chance of winning these games as well.

ZT's athletes were nasty. I dont think Peebles had any idea of how athletic ZT would be. Was not even a game ,if I remember right ZT had a similiar effort last year when they knocked off Portsmouth in the sectionals.

Maybe they can do some damage at the Convo with my LE Braves. Good Job fellow Pioneers.

Making a rude comment like that takes away from the hard work of the Peebles players, not to mention coaches. It also offends fans like me, who have watched these kids give 100% effort all year. They are a great group of kids who play TEAM ball and give their community something to be proud of. They definitely did not play their best tonight against Zane Trace, but they have played excellent games all season, and to try to take away from that by suggesting their record is only a result of no competition is ridiculous. Didn't they teach you better manners at Burg?

Congratulations to Coach Alley, and the Pioneers from Redstreak nation...Representing the SVC strongly...Many underestimated how strong the conference was this year, but getting 3 teams (maybe 4 w/PV) to the convo is a statement. Way to battle; Piketon folks know you have the team to knock of Fairland and North Adams...That defense is tough...Keep playing with confidence, good luck Sunday!

Where to start. I'm really proud of the Peebles Indians this season, they have had a great year, they've worked hard and this upset was a heartbreaker for the boys, Seniors especially. It was obvious from the beginning that we were in trouble from the tip. This was not the same ballclub we've followed all season. Lack of rebounding, poor shot selection, missed free throws and gimme shots, not pressing the ball, foul trouble, you name it ... it was a mess. The tone of the game was set from the beginning, granted the officiating of this game was a joke but we beat ourselves. ZT was able to shutdown our inside game and prevent Justice from shooting beyond the arch. It was a great disappointment but we pick up and move on.

All in all, these boys have had a great year and we are all extremely proud of them!! Congrats Peebles and don't let anyone try to tear down all of your hard work.

Congratulations to Zane Trace and the SVC. Peebles....sounds like you had a real nice year to be proud of. Keep your heads up and start working towards next year. Just shows that anyone can get beat on any given night. Go Streaks!!!

I would say difficult schedules such as what Zane Trace played this year may hurt you on seeding day, but prepare you for tournament day. Good job from Braves Country.

That is why they should continue to play that schedule.

flagmanusa...Peebles didn't make it to district finals last year..they got beat in the semi-finals against Ironton.
Good post rooster....just a bad night, unfortunately everything went wrong and it seemed that we got away from everything that had been working the last half of the season. It definately looked like a very different team.
Great season...to finish 17-3 and win the league is nothing to be ashamed of and is something that hasn't been done at Peebles for a long time. These boys have definately brought the heart and soul back to Peebles basketball, starting with the last half of last season.

rooster,
The officiating had nothing to do with the outcome of this game. ZT's size and strength and there defensive game plan was the difference in this one.

thefan, before you get your britches all twisted...re-read roosters post...he said Peebles beat themselves...the officiating wasn't good but again PEEBLES BEAT THEMSELVES...no one is blaming this game on anything but that.
Peebles had 3 kids sick this week, 2 of them starters, and AGAIN, not making excuses, but that was likely a factor. Bottom line, we were flatter than flat and just had the worse night ever...no excuses...that's just how it is.
