Alexander Volleyball?

Post by Snowman »

I understand Alexander is searching for a new volleyball coach? Is this the normal procedure because Jeffers is not a teacher (posting the job) or is he leaving the program? Anyone know for sure?

Seen the play this year, and by no means is the "well o dryin up". Look for a strong showing again this year as they seem pretty driven again with good leadership from returning players. :-D

Alex just finished with the Jackson summer league. They played teams such as Jackson, Wheelersburg, Nelsonville, Athens, Vinton County, and Logan. They never lost a game. While there was good talent on the state championship team, some of that talent is returning this year and they appear to be a very balanced team with many offensive and defensive weapons. Look for them to win the TVC again and go deep in the tournament. Some of the reasons stated previously for Alex's past successes just will not pan out to be valid for this year's team. Go Alex!!

I say they are the champs until some one beats them. I think they can make a deep run in the post season if not a trip back to the state championship.

Who is filling holes for Alexander from the departing Seniors? Who is stepping up?

Amber Haver is the new head coach at Alexander. She coached the freshman volleyball team at Athens last season.

Athens downs the Spartans 3 - 1 tonight in pretty good fashion. 7th, 8th, Freshmen, JV won in a combined 8 - 0 thumping!

For those not at the game, the Spartans looked pretty impressive again. The atmosphere was charged and the team appeared to once again have a lot of confidence playing a good Meigs team. By the way, they took the match in 3, and I believe Athens beat them in 4. From what I have seen, I believe the changes have been very beneficial to the morale and will drive them to be the best that they can be. Any competitor will have to be on top of their game if they want to challenge the Spartans. The game Tuesday against Belpre(which was very dominating) was just the beginning. :122245

Alexander will get their chance again with AThens on Thursday. Athens won at Meigs, life a little tougher on the road, and Athens has already won at Alex. Alex still has to go to Meigs. Looks to me like there is lots of vb to be played. After round one in the TVC Ohio - Athens - 0 losses, Alex 1 loss, and Meigs 1 loss.

Looks like Athens struggled somewhat with Nelsonville in the last 2 games on their home court Thursday night?

The Buckeyes were digging and passing machines, played their butts off against the Bulldogs, but it was still a 3-0 sweep.
