Eastern Meigs vs. Western Pike @ The Convo
Re: Eastern Meigs vs. Western Pike @ The Convo
Wow...Where's all the Western Supporters that were on here bashing the Eagles about how Smithson and Shanks were going to dominate???? I saw jake lynch dominate the first half driving inside when they had a 6 inch height advantage! And the Eagles making free throws down the stretch!
I'm glad Eastern finally got to show a LITTLE of what they are made of. Hopefully Pierce isn't hurt too bad..they stepped up with his absence tonight.. Eagles didnt have the three ball falling again tonight..but ive said it a million times before..."Good teams with Good coaches find a way to win".
GO EAGLES!

Western might be the worst shooting team i have seen all year, maybe it was good defense by eastern. I loved the intensity that Eastern played with

If I were Western I wouldn't feel to bad. This coming from a 6th grade coach. I thought someone told you Green Devil to wait till you got the 7th grade job before you started giving scouting reports.
Apparently that 6th grade coach knows something! Man...something is missing on this thread...oh yeah...I remember...its all the Western Supporters that were running their yappers before the game but after Eastern ROUTED them without one of their best players, they dont have much to say! It must sting...

Western is/was a good team and had a very good season. This was just a bad matchup for Western. Their chance was to pound the ball inside either by the dribble or the pass and by doing so get to the foul line and get some easy stick backs. The last thing Eastern wanted to see was Western getting the ball in the paint and playing ping-pong off the glass. Defensively, they had a strategy of stopping the 3 Western scorers and they put 100% of their attention to doing just that. Out of curiosity, does anybody know the rebounding statistics for the game?

once again congrats to eastern and coach C. now please take back bennie!

D 4 Regionals for the SE ohio teams will be Tuesday March 17 at the Convo. Finals will be March 20 at the Convo. The other bracket semifinal will be at the fairgrounds.
Re: Eastern Meigs vs. Western Pike @ The Convo
Did thier defensive pressure bother Western? I said it would in an earlier post. I had a feeling Eastern would win this one. Congrats to them!

Eastern took alot of charges in this game and the refs actually called them, They dont work on charges everyday in practice for nothing

That is true. You can tell Western has played primarily teams who don't take charges. It was good to see the refs actually get some calls correct. Thats where you have to give credit to Coach Caldwell..I also think its funny how one of the smallest kids on the court(Lynch) had a double-double. Heart DEFINITELY counts more than size. GO EAGLES.

First let me say congrats to both teams and good luck to Eastern, one game at a time.
Second let me say, I had no dog in this hunt and just went to watch basketball. That being said that was horribly officiated! Absolutely on consistency what so ever. Tic tac calls both ways and no calls on the obvious. The two calls that stick out was the call from Detweiller from half court on a over the back call that had no contact and the baseline official is standing 6' from it and saw there was nothing. Second the no call against Western when he leaped frogged an Eastern player (with the ball) and put him on the floor and caused a turn over. Howie didn't like that one either. AWFUL! Last but not least, all the little touch fouls on the Indians post players, and on rebounds Eastern was litterally taking both hands and shoving them under the bucket. Sorry guys, but it made the game really hard to watch. Either let them play or call it all, I don't care. But that game was brutal to watch! I personally thing that game was too big a game for Detweiller. I thought Western's coach did a great job restraining himself from getting a T, he was clearly upset.
I'm not blaming the refs for losing or winning a game. I'm a big Caldwell fan. He has done a great job for years. But it would have been a much better game with the Indians post players not being scared to contest a shot when they are in tic tac foul trouble. IMO.
Great job again by both programs and good luck to everyone!

you really shouldn't be putting a ref's name on this topic. Maybe he can come to your work and then discuss on the Chat topic what type of job you did.

My bad. I didn't know they were so thin skinned.
As far as I'm concerned if they get paid to do a job, then evaluation comes with it.
But I will refrain from using they're names in the future.

I dont think very much! They lose I think their whole starting 5, or at least all of their scoring... Shanks, Smithson, Penwell.

Judging by the fact that Western only had 9 turnovers I would say no - their pressure didnt have that much of an affect. Also, I dont know that I have ever heard of a game with only 1 assist?
