George played his high school football at Ironton High School. George helped the Fighting Tigers to a perfect season in 1935 and a state championship.
George was blessed with great speed (9.7 100 yard dash) and could have been a star in any NFL era.

probably the standard by all Ironton athlets will be judged. Pretty cool having a NFL Hall of famer, graduating from your school in small town Ohio. RIP Mr Mcafee.

Geroge McAfee day in Ironton was during the 1966 football season against Ashland....His Ironton High School number 13 was retired and a bronze bust of him was presented to him in the school's Auditorium....It was a great day in Ironton....
