SEOAL needs to do something new, how does this look?
Although this will probably never happen it would be nice to have a league between these schools. All have great programs (yes some are having off years but look at past numbers too) and all schools are reasonably close besides a couple of the south traveling north or other way around. Plus the league would be good for other sports as well.
North

Re: SEOAL needs to do something new, how does this look?
I'd rather see West than Waverly.
I think the schools closer to Columbus that are in the MSL Buckeye are growing too rapidly to remain in that league. Canal Winchester left and Hamilton Twp and Teays Valley are both getting toward D1 size.
How about
North - Chillicothe, Circleville, Logan Elm, Amanda, Nelsonville York, Athens
South - Jackson, Gallia Academy, Ironton, Portsmouth, Portsmouth West, Wheelersburg
Like you said, it is all a pipe dream, but fun to speculate.

I could see chesapeake being a good addition. They would add alot to the basketball court. And could be decent in football.

These type combinations all look good and many actually make sense. However, it is wishful thinking to think, West, Wheelersburg or any other SOC II team is going to leave a long established league to be apart of a startup. There is absolutely nothing to be gained in doing so for these teams.

Waverly would be the better matchup in almost every other sport than football.

For a football only league, I almost like the idea of
Gallia Academy
Wheelersburg
Ironton
Portsmouth
Portsmouth West
and one or two others, maybe Jackson and Chillicothe
But of course it's extremely unlikely to actually happen.

That wouldn't be too bad. But would rather have another school besides wahama in the SEOAL I bracket.

How many games would you allow for a team to play from the other Div.

Re: SEOAL needs to do something new, how does this look?
These would be four separate divisions under the SEOAL conference brand. Crossover games wouldn't be mandatory, but they are obviously readily available for teams that want to play them. Travel is as minimal as possible, and each division is organized based on size and competitive levels. It makes sense for southeastern Ohio and Mason County, WV if you could get every team I have involved on board. The SOC needs to finally accept Portsmouth and possibly Ironton. The SEOAL needs to look into absorbing the TVC, and going the route I have laid out above.noreply66 wrote:Daniel Larusso wrote:SEOAL IV

I like the idea but pt. pleasant is about to become a AAA school again but personally, I'd love to see NY play a school that large.

i like both alignments and i'd love to see ironton leagued up again. unfortunately i don't see an alignment happening like this, until schools are in financial ruins over sports, then it may be too late.if it's good for college football, it's good for high school ball, and diminishing crowds.personally i look for districts to combine soon. that you would have thought crazy just short years ago. districts with brand new shiny facilities.it will happen trust me.

Re: SEOAL needs to do something new, how does this look?
There are some interesting alignments there. I for one just hate the idea of out-of-state games and league members. I just don't like them.
Although these are all just "wish lists", you never know what will happen by the time Governor Kasich is done with the educational system in this state. I think forced consolidation (in the form of the withholding of state funding) is just around the corner for many districts. Some of it has already started with the idea of the sharing of superintendents. So, who knows what a few years may bring?

No reason this couldn't happen very soon. burg won't be in and Warren will still be in.IronmenTradition wrote:Although this will probably never happen it would be nice to have a league between these schools. Pipe dream. No way Ironton joins a league.
Oh wait! Haven't we been down that road before?
