I was getting ready to harp on the same thing. Worthington Christian should be able to beat a TVC Hocking team. I think we should be allowed to combine all the TVC Hocking best players and take them up north and kick some A_ _. That is basically what we are playing against. If christian needs a point guard, it is simple go recruit one.

I still don't think that team would win...the Hocking is down.

It,s by far,not the best high school league in the state, but it is what it should be.High school kids playing at public schools and playing for a little area pride.Look at the top of the d4 Columbus bracket, theirs not a single public school left in the final eight. At least this year we don,t have to play them in their own back yard.Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for making that happen.

If you watch TVC Hocking basketball, the games are exciting every night and usually down to the wire. The talent may not be what it is in City Leagues, but it shouldnt be.

Or for that matter anyone in Scioto County?

Looks to me like Meigs has two representatives out of the three schools in the county.

How many schools are in Scioto? 11? 12?

No, Wheelersburgs not in the tourney this year, but do you really want to compare the success of Eastern Meigs to the Burg over the past 30 years. Just how many times has Eastern been to the Final 4?

Twice?

It's just funny to me people from a county with 12 high school teams can slam on one with 3. When two of the three meigs schools are still in and 12 out of 12 scioto schools aren't..................

We aren't comparing with the past we are talking about right now.

Yes burg fan, you have some really good athletes in your area. But what does that have to do with anything about a small division 4 school in Meigs county. The EAGLES have only been to the state once in basketball and twice in softball, but for what we have financialy and facilaties, were just as happy as can be.

I'm not slamming anybody and I think it's great that Meigs county still has two schools left in the tourney. All I was pointing out was that if the TVC is, and I quote, "the best conference in America" that they would have mutiple state titles and appearances. The SOC has numerous times over the last 15 or 20 years sent multiple schools to the districts and regionals at the same time, but I gaurantee you didn't see anyone from our area claiming them to be the "best conference in America" or the state for that matter.

As a matter of fact I can only remember one time over the years that a TVC team has beaten Wheelersburg in the tourney and I believe that was Belpre back in the mid to late 90's. I know we have played Alexander numerous times and I don't think we've ever lost to them.

Good luck to the Meigs county teams.

I'm sure if you check every year that Wheelersburg seniors are just about all 19 year old seniors. I've heard it's an unwritten rule that if you what them to play basketball hold them back a year early. A year makes a big difference.

Wheelersburg had no seniors on the basketball team! Their were 6 juniors, 4 sophomores and 1 freshman.

classof86 wrote:considering eastern graduates about 50 seniors per year id say there sports program does pretty good

According to the High School Enrollment figures for 2007-2009, Eastern Meigs has about 65 seniors.

Also, according to those same figures, Eastern Meigs had 99 boys in grades 9,10 and 11 as of October 2006. Southern had 97. Both of these school's enrollment is more than all of the Division IV schools in Scioto County with the exception of South Webster.

South Webster 129
Sciotoville East 91
Franklin Furnace Green 81
Portsmouth Clay 79
New Boston Glenwood 44
Portsmouth Notre Dame 38

You should truely be proud of the fact that 3 teams in your division made it this far, however.......... me thinks youve been smokin too much of the Meigs gold............
....put the pipe down and step away. I can think of a couple of teams in the TVC that to the best of my knowledge none of the Hocking division have beaten for quite some time.
