Re: D III R12 Qtrs: #7 Jackson (10-0) at #2 Athens (10-0)
The Athens defense has definitly been sort of 'over shadowed' all season even though its been extremly stout ... The two best QB's we faced, who both put the ball in the air over 30 times each, ended up throwing 4 INT's as well ... The Bulldogs D is stout against the run, but more importantly they are like ball hawks - averaging 4 turnovers a game this season (43 total) ... If they get those 4 turnovers Friday, they have a chance ... If Osborn does his thing and hurts them all night scrambling, running, passing and Jackson holds onto the ball - its gonna be tough for Athens ... If that happens, the 'Dogs will have to be clicking on all cylinders offensively and hope they can out score the Ironmen.
BTW - I02 - If you wanna make some money, go with Athens 31, Jackson 28 ... You know, I made $50 last week picking all the right games in The Messenger - I'm on a hot streak here - you need to listen to me if you wanna make a few bucks!!!

I agree, I think both teams defenses have been over looked by there great offenses. Maybe a defensive shootout friday night! who knows? It is the play offs, anything is possible.

On pg. 1 of this thread I originally picked Jackson to win 28-14, maybe I'd better say: 35-14 now after reading these previous posts. Go SEOAL !!!!!Texas 2 wrote:St.Charles 7 Canal Winchester 12 7 -3

IronmenTradition wrote:Athens fans, don't confuse all Jackson fans as those talking down the TVC. Other SEOAL teams might get on this thread and talk down the TVC and talk up the SEOAL but we know that is not the case. Jackson, Athens, NY would have been 1,2,3 in the SEOAL this season. SEOAL a few years ago, then it's a different story but that is not the case. I just believe there are a few lower teams that bring the TVC down, but the top teams can play some football. They are just rooting against other leagues because they finished in the bottom of their own.
I agree with your assessment. And there is no guarantee Jackson would beat NY this year.
I also remember what happened the last time NY played Jackson. NY was 9-0 and Jackson 8-1. The game was @ Jackson in Week 10 and many people were talking about how Jackson would run all over NY. The opposite happened. NY dominated that game and finished undefeated on the season and regional runner up. I'm not targeting this to Jackson fans. I'm targeting it to anyone who talks down a winning program, no matter where they are from. Even when NY has one of its top teams, the Buckeyes still don't get any respect from some people. But that's ok. When you have people from other areas talk down your team and your team wins on a consistant basis, that usually means they are jealous of your success because the team they route for doesn't have that level of success.

Re: D III R12 Qtrs: #7 Jackson (10-0) at #2 Athens (10-0)
Anyone read today's Athens Messenger? Great article in it about Athens-Jackson by Kevin Wiseman ... Pretty good reading if you havn't had a chance to read the paper yet.
(BTW) The profile pic at the top of the article, who's willing to bet that isn't a Cincinnati Reds jersey or Ohio State shirt he's wearing?
I think maybe the Athens folk will decide to hook KW up with a nice little 'dinner tray' over in the away stands so he has something to write on Friday.
Of course I'm joking ... Although a certain person picked against Athens last week in the weekly picks, I heard he was welcomed with open arms into the press box and ended up writting a very good story ... So I'm sure he'll have no problems writting about another thrilling victory for the 'Dogs this Friday.

Maybe you should sit next to him Friday Ironmannut07 and hold the umbrella over his head - we don't want the stats getting all messed up because of a few rain drops. It's probably gonna be tough braving the elements, while trying to write stuff down all night.Ironmannut07 wrote:I read it it was a very good article and I can't wait to read his article on this weeks game i just hope Its about An ironmen victory

On a side note, I got word earlier today that Channel 4 news from Columbus will be doing a story on the Athens team and everything that has happened in the last year or so airing tonight at 11:00 if anyone is interested in watching.

Just like the 1990 Athens game....the folks I knew in Jackson did not feel like we would win or knew it would be an incredible battle. Our team that year was quite good but you guys had one of the elite running backs in the state and the game wasnt close. This particular Jackson team is like no team we've had before in terms of skilled offensive weapons and we pass. We've had the killer offenses in the past....but never the combo of running and passing.
The leagues are completely irrelevant.

Re: D III R12 Qtrs: #7 Jackson (10-0) at #2 Athens (10-0)
I know one thing - I just watched the Temple QB rush for about 200 yds on OU with that darn 'zone-read-option' out of the spread formation ... Arrgghhhh - that gets extremly frustrating to watch ... I've got my fingers crossed that Osborn does not have that kind of success Friday ... One sign of hope through (the Bobcats did win the game despite the nice night the QB had rushing the ball.) Osborn, or any of the Jackson backs, can have 300 yds for all I care - as long as the 'Dogs win.
Oh wait, that actually happened once didn't it?
