I don't think they cover any SOC teams do they? I know they cover the TVC, SEOAL, MVL, etc. because the show is done from Athens and Zanesville by OU students and those are the teams surrounding their campuses. They talked about N-Y because they are one of the best teams in their coverage area, they don't talk about many schools in SE Ohio. They will do the X-tra points segments on big matchups outside of the normal coverage area from tme to time though.dr3737 wrote:well i know you watch gridiron gloryand that is all they talk about this year was ny.not one time did they say a word about WEST or any of the team down in this areabuckfan84 wrote:Just remember, NY is one of those teams never given credit either. Just a couple of tidbits about the Buckeyes...To participate in Athletics, Band, Quiz Bowl, any activity that requires a paid administrator (coach) at N-Y, you have to submit to mandatory drug testing at the start of the school year and then random testing throughout. That applies to all from grades 7-12.
Also, several of our athletes participate in "Campaigners", "Club" and Bible Study two days a week which are various church youth groups.
GO BUCKS!!!!

I think if west can use their passing game to keep NY's defense off balance and not solely rely on their run game to carry them I see this game going either way. If west comes into this game thinking they will be able to run all over the buckeyes they may be in store for a rude awaking. Ratliff is a very smart, and accurate, QB. This game should be well worth the price of admission. If it was Saturday I'd be there rooting on the West side but I have to stay in Lucasvillle and cheer on the Indians. Good luck West!!!

And to boot, that is a program done is SE Ohio, particularly Athens County which is where NY is located.A-Town Big Dog wrote:I don't think they cover any SOC teams do they? You needn't look any further than The Athens Jackson thread and see the kind of respect NY DOESN'T get. I mean I seem to recall some West fans asking where they'd be playing Valley in the regional final. So please don't give me that West gets less respect than NY. Just not remotely true.

They are big and they are physical. They will flat jack you up on "D". It is true their competition was down this year but nonetheless, this team is tough. I won't make a prediction on outcome but I'll be pulling for the Senators.
Let me tell you something Pocahontas, I'm a Valley alumni and I've been a staunch supporter of the Indians for decades. Come playoff time I support all schools in our area. West is a darn fine team. If you don't think they'll be ready for the Indians in a rematch, you are going to be very disappointed. The playoffs are littered with teams who have lost games in rematches. Don't get too cocky, cocky.
Now, if I were you, I'd be very concerned with Ridgewood. They aren't going to be an easy out. I know the testosterone is running high but ya might want to find a way to keep it contained. There is a lot of football to be played and I'd love to seen the Indians make a big run. TAKE ONE GAME AT A TIME...In the mean time, GO SENATORS in this game!!!!

Man, I sure hate to miss this game - please make it a good one so I can rush home and watch it on Nelsonville T.V. cable ... I'm sure we'll hear the helmets cracking clear down here on the Plains - Ive seen the 'Bucks twice and they can bring it! Ive seen West teams in the past and they have always done the same ... Should be a real entertaining game if your a fan of 'smash mouth' football.
Good luck Bucks from here in A-Town ... I know there are A LOT US that will be pulling for you big time!

Given that these two teams finished just 8.0 2nd level points apart (that's only 2 D-5 wins if you're keeping score), kind of begs the question in reverse of NY? Now, I say that a little tongue in cheek, as I believe both teams are more than worthy of the other's respect...as well as the respect of the rest of the region. But, both teams have just one win against a playoff team. West's win was against D-IV, Region 15 #8 seed Chesapeake; while NY's win was against D-VI, Region 23 #8 seed Trimble. Taking it a step further, Chesapeake finished with a 14.9697 average consisting of 30.0 1st level points and 118.5 2nd level points; where as Trimble finished with an 11.0854 average consisting of 25.5 1st level points and 84.5 2nd level points.A-Town Big Dog wrote:I'm not banging on West here but, what are the signature wins for West? I see a good win against Peake and one against Burg but the other wins don't look too impressive from afar. I admit I don't know much about "river ball" are there wins that are good that don't look it on paper?
For all of those numbers, none of it means squat at this point in time. It's playoff time and these are two very solid football teams that are going to play what most believe will be a very good football game.
DISCLAIMER....I'm not knocking either team's schedule. I'm only showing where anything can be twisted and turned to show strength or weakness. I have a ton of respect for both teams.

If West gets into a running match with NY, they get smoked. If West grinds it out between the tackles, and shortens the game, they win. Do not judge the Buckeyes by the Athens game. When they're at their best, they could probably give any team in this area a run for their money.
Re: DV R19 Qtrs: Ports West (9-1) @ Nelsonville-York (9-1)

Can someone post starting rosters for both teams with their size? Familiar with West but not NY
Re: DV R19 Qtrs: Ports West (9-1) @ Nelsonville-York (9-1)
WEST!!! Hit them hard on offense. Hit them harder on defense. Take care of the football. Stop on the wistle and don't hit anyone 30 yards from the ball and we'll be playing week 12. GO SIDERS!!!!!! (Yes, i'm old school)

Heres to preseason preview from the Portsmouth Daily Times if you need any more info on West.

Trust me...the buckeyes can and will compete with west in this game! West won't have it as easy as they are hoping this will be one of the toughest games for west!!!!
Re: DV R19 Qtrs: Ports West (9-1) @ Nelsonville-York (9-1)
What West fans think this will be easy? If they do, they are idiots. It's a 50/50 game and your home. Advantage NY.nybucksgrad06 wrote:Trust me...the buckeyes can and will compete with west in this game! West won't have it as easy as they are hoping this will be one of the toughest games for west!!!!

Re: DV R19 Qtrs: Ports West (9-1) @ Nelsonville-York (9-1)
Nelsonville-York might have only let up a total of 51 points before the Athens game, but how many of those teams had an effective passing game? Athens had a good passing game going, but they went deep instead of keeping it short to intermediate where it was tearing up the Nelsonville-York secondary. Any team with and effective passing game will be able to shred the Buckeye's secondary, because the quarterback will have all day to throw if they've got a line just like Athens if not better.
Re: DV R19 Qtrs: Ports West (9-1) @ Nelsonville-York (9-1)
Newark had a nice passing game, ready had a nice passing game, Alex had a nice passing game, Trimble lives by the pass and NY had over 20 pics this season. Shredded???? They did pic Athens off 6 times 5 from the QB. One long from QB one from RB their cornerbacks had 5 of them only one by the saftey..
