Oak Hill vs. Newark Catholic
Newark Catholic won a barnburner this evening with Harvest Prep 48 - 46. Both teams played hard and free throw shooting in the last :30 seconds won it for N.C. even though Harvest Prep had the ball with a chance to win at the end.

Re: Oak Hill vs. Newark Catholic
Oak Hill has been underestimated the whole playoff season and i hope that it continues! Dont ever count the Oaks out. In the elite 8 its gonna be interesting, Im sure Newark Catholic is strong and i hear that they play good defense and stall the game at times. Sounds very similar to the Oaks!! Do they have a strong inside game??
Re: Oak Hill vs. Newark Catholic
I believe Oak Hill takes this one and makes their first appearance at state.

Re: Oak Hill vs. Newark Catholic
Matt Dawson is the big gun for Newark Catholic and is one of the few boys that I believe doesn't play anything other than basketball at the school. Cox and Vernau are excellent athletes that have recently helped the Green Wave win football and baseball State Championships there. Oak Hill has there work cut out for them but who knows, that's why they play the game.
Friday night will tell.

Re: Oak Hill vs. Newark Catholic
Record of 21-4 (Losses were to larger division teams & county rival. A plus for Oak Hill is that I think this is the first time ever in a regional for N.C. in basketball and it'll be the first time ever for them down at the convo so they'll only have one game to get it right with the angles, baskets, background etc. whereas Oak Hill has been there numerous times this year and in years past so that may be an advantage). Now , if we were talking football or baseball (14 state championships total) then I couldn't make that argument.

The Oaks set a new school record this evening their 22nd win of the year, which is the most in a single season.
Congrats Oaks and Coach Persin. Good luck against the Green Wave.

This could conceivably be the biggest weekend in Oak Hill sports history. Enjoy it while you can, especially the kids.

Yes, they have 6-4 Nate Adams, who can bang inside and he passes the ball like a point guard.mtbrimstone wrote:Does Catholic have a strong inside presence??

Good luck Oaks from the Pirate fan. Go out and show them what the SOC and Southern Ohio B-ball is all about.
