Oil stays above $61 despite Fed comments
The Federal Reserve sees "significant downside risks" for the U.S. economy, with the global financial system still "vulnerable to further shocks," according to minutes of a Fed meeting released this week.
The comments helped push stocks down, with the Dow Jones industrial average falling 1.5 percent Thursday.
Oil prices have jumped about 75 percent since March on expectations the worst of a severe recession is over.

Unitl we start drilling our own oil we will always be dependent on foreign oil. Its not that hard to figure out.

Who is going to invest in the drilling? Obama is planning on cutting out all tax breaks for investors, so there is going to be fewer and fewer investors. Not very smart on his part.

Gas is $2.75 here now in Ashland and Flatwoods and Ironton..however, this evening I was in Grayson, Kentucky...which is like what, 15 miles? and it was only (well, only sounds silly too though) $2.58! Now, I know that's only 17 cents a gallon but...better in my pocket than their's. How can there be that much difference in such a small distance?

Oil has jumped more than 100 percent in three months as traders have cheered news showing the worst of a severe U.S. recession is likely over, and have brushed off data -- such as a 9.4 percent unemployment rate in May -- that suggest crude demand will remain weak.

Just a couple of weeks ago the reports said the supply was high than it had been in many years and that refineries were running at 85% capacity. With supply and demand the price should be falling.
But wait we need the extra tax revenue to pay for Government Motors and Nacys salt marsh mouse and reforming Chinese prostates, I see said the blind man. You can bow to them as much as you want but not me.…….
