Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
Northwest coming off of a loss against the West Side, Waverly coming off of a great comeback against the Falcons
I see Waverly winning in this one. They really impressed people against Minford when they were down and kept fighting to get back in the game and ended up winning. From what I heard, Northwest all but gave up once they got down by a little bit against West.
Northwest has a good back in Brown. Waverly has a decent back and a good QB.
Thoughts?

Waverly has a decent team and should get things turned around in the next couple of seasons.

Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
Im really proud of the way the tigers fought and clawed to a victory over minford last friday. They have played a helluva schedule against quality opposition and it is good to see them on the winning side of things once again. I say that they will use that momentum and the home field advantage to drub northwest. Best of luck to waverly on senior night.

Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
Would like to see the Mohawks win but dont see that happening. Waverly can win this game by as many as they want. I really thought maybe that coach Fry and his staff had this program going in the right direction but after what I seen friday I just dont know.

Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
Northwest DOES NOT have the athletes to compete at the SOC II level, period! I dont care who is coaching there. The league needs to let them go down to SOC I and allow the program to grow and at least give the kids a chance to compete each week. Even at that they couldnt win that league every year.
Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
I wouldn't go that far. That's a pretty sweeping statement.Buckeye-4-Life wrote:Northwest DOES NOT have the athletes to compete at the SOC II level, period! I dont care who is coaching there. Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
Northwest has one more win then Waverly but strength of schedule is not even close.
In non-conference games Waverly lost to 2 undefeated teams in D3 (Athens & Jackson) and D2 Western Brown who is 6-3. Piketon, the other non-conference loss sits at 5-4 in D4 and not out of the playoff picture.
League games are comparible with the exception of the Minford game in which Waverly rebounded with a 35-31 win and Northwest got shut out 43-0.

Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
I agree, I think NW would compete for the SOC 1 title regularly, I think letting them go down would be a good idea to build the program up.Slew72 wrote:I wouldn't go that far. I do agree with the SOC 1 idea, but I don't think it's fair to generalize the athletes @ Northwest.!chicken_coop wrote:I agree, I think NW would compete for the SOC 1 title regularly, I think letting them go down would be a good idea to build the program up.Slew72 wrote:I wouldn't go that far. Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
I understand what you're saying, but what does being outscored 174-14 (most teams JV in at the half) in SOC 2 play do for the kids?Slew72 wrote:I do agree with the SOC 1 idea, but I don't think it's fair to generalize the athletes @ Northwest.!
Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
That's what you get when you don't have support/ buy in from the student body at Northwest (at all levels) and when the athletes that do play, go to other schools.chicken_coop wrote:I understand what you're saying, but what does being outscored 174-14 (most teams JV in at the half) in SOC 2 play do for the kids?Slew72 wrote:I do agree with the SOC 1 idea, but I don't think it's fair to generalize the athletes @ Northwest.!

Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
What an effort the Waverly kids put on tonight. They maintained the momentum from last Friday's comeback win against Minford. Taylor Ward was in beast mode during those last 6 quarters of play. Northwest clearly didn't have an answer for him tonight. Zach Corcoran laid a NASTY hit on a Northwest defender knocking his helmet off. I was happy to see the kid walk away under his own will. That was a vicious hit.Bolin-Hitchens also look really poised tonight as well. Waverly ended their season on a right note winning the last two games of the year. Good luck to the senior players and it was a great pleasure watching them progress as football players and great young men in or society. Congratulations, Waverly!

Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
Hey tiger24, looks like your tigers played a pretty good game tonight. My pirates didn't fair so well tonight. Waverly is definitely headed in the right direction after a strong showing in your last 2 games. Good luck next year until you play the pirates. (lol)
Re: Week 10: Northwest vs. Waverly
Ward came out to a standing ovation after going over 1,000 yards on the season. He had 230 in the first half and stayed in until he got his 1,000. Great job by the Tiger starting defense in shutting down Brown. Two early 4th period Mohawk TD's against the Tiger JV's made things a little interesting when the Tiger JV offense fumbled again inside their own 20 with around 8 minutes to play and Northwest continued with their starters. Waverly sent their starting defense back out. Northwest promptly called timeout and put their JV offense in and Waverly then called timeout to get their JV's back in - was very interesting.
Total domination by the Tigers tonight.
