1ST Annual Spring Bench Press and Deadlift Competition.
DATE: Saturday, April 11th, 2009
FOR: High School/Junior High Athletes/Teams (all welcome)
WHERE: Northwest Middle School Gymnasium
WEIGH - IN: 8:30am - 10:00am
COMPETITION: Begins @ 10:30am
DIVISIONS: Boys and Girls
CLASSES: Lightweight 125lbs, 135lbs, 145lbs, 155lbs
Middleweight 165lbs, 175lbs, 185lbs, 195lbs
Heavyweight 210lbs, 225lbs, 250lbs, Unlimited
Girls 125lbs, 145lbs, 165lbs, Unlimited
LIFTS: Three attempts @ Bench, & Deadlift
Equipment:: Deadlift: Single Ply Squat Suits/Knee Wraps allowed.
Bench: Wrist wraps allowed (NO BENCH SHIRTS).
Rules: Adopted from state powerlifting meet.
ENTRY FEE: $5.00 per Lifter
REQUIREMENTS: Permission Slip signed by a parent or guardian
AWARDS: First - Third place in each weight class receive medals Fourth - Sixth place in each class receive ribbons.
TEAM AWARDS: Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams
FACILITIES: Seating, Locker Rooms available
ADMISSION: $2 for student spectators, and $3 for adults
CONCESSIONS: Breakfast/Lunch will be available
T-SHIRTS: Available for $10

Bill,
I think what you have done with the weight program proves your love and committment to Northwest High School. I understand that due to your need to get the proper certification you won't be able to coach this year and still you've put the time and effort into running this program while Scot was healing from his leg surgery. I enjoyed working with you and hope your meet goes well.
To the boys of Northwest you have taken the first step in turning things around by working so hard in the weightroom. Confidence comes with stength. Don't forget about agility. If you have strength and quick feet then all that's left is "want to".

How did this event go? Was there a good turn out? Who placed where? How did the Mohawk crew do? Just wondering.
