There are not pictures of those because they are working on the stadium right now to get it ready for the season.

what about pics for the new gym?

The old gym is supposed to be remodeled to match the new complex.

There is not a new gym being built.

There are two gyms in the new high school.

So, there aren't any pictures of the old gym being remodeled because they are working on the stadium right now.

How long does field turf last before it must be replaced?

Portsmouth is lucky to be getting this , it is going to be a one of a kind,I was worried it was going to be just a fieled with chain link fence and metal seating, but I can already see , it will be much more, cant wait to see it finished.

I have not been a fan of leaving Spartan, to build this new stadium, but from what I have seen of late it does look to be pretty nice. I just hope it all turns out the way they plam, and it is able to be kept up. I still don't see how they are going to have practices up there for all 7th, 8th grades, freshmen, JV, and varsity. What happens when one of the lower levels has a home game? I know that 7th and 8th grades games are on Thursdays which is a light day of just pregame, which will only use the field for about 45 minutes. I assume that a practice field might be put inside the new track when it is completed. Anyone have any idea?

While expensive to install at first , field turf is very cost effective in the long run.
I have heard that it can last any where from 15 to 20 years if it is maintained properly. I have always been against turf until they put it on Dave Boston Field at NY.
No more mowing grass or painting lines and no more drainage problems.

Some one said that they used 250,000 recycled tires to make the turf!!!!!
On top of that it looks great!!!!!!!

GO BUCKS GO!!!!!!!!

Was down by the new complex last night and it looks like they have alot of it up and going. Should be a great complex once it is finished.

Would be nice if someone from the Burg's past could step up and donate 10million dollars. Any takers out there! Anyone!

No takers, but maybe the federal government? According to this document: ( http://recovery.ohio.gov/docs/03_18_09_ ... quests.pdf --- very large file ~11MB... on page 1186) Wheelersburg Local has asked for $15 million in economic recovery funds to renovate Ed Miller Stadium and build an athletic complex.

Can't hurt to ask I say.

Thanks, biggdowgg and the Instructor for the pictures.........this looks like it is really going to have some character to it........not a cookie cutter stadium with no personality........I love the stones being used for the bleachers........I love the levee and from what I understand it will be 25 feet high when done........

One of the best things about this stadium is its location........right downtown......not on the outskirts like so many new stadiums.........

I have one question. Where is everyone going to park?
I realize that there is a good amount of parking at the schools, but lets face it this is not a basketball game. Football draws significantly better.

I also would like to thank biggdowgg and the instructor for their pictures. I for one cannot wait to make my 600 mile pilgramage to see the Mighty Trojans.

Dave keep up the comments thoughts and ideas on both this and the basketball forums. There is no one in the Portsmouth area who is more informed at keeping the interest of the Portsmouth school district in the forefront. You Sir are appreciated.

Sorry if I've missed them, but is there any blueprints or architectural pics of how this is going to be laid out, all the fields etc. I just can't picture in my mind how they are getting all of this in that area.
