Re: PREVIEW: Nelsonville-York at Athens week 10
Does anyone from Athens, or Nelsonville for that matter, know what time the gates will open for this game? Wanna get there early! Thanks!
Re: PREVIEW: Nelsonville-York at Athens week 10
Hopefully they send Pre-Sale Tickets to NY so this "RUDDER" won't be in line very long. Let's see if the great minds from Athens plan ahead.

COOL CLOCK - THX ButterFingers.
Bishtakes ... Not sure about the tickets and I'm not sure what time the gates open ... But one thing about the fence around R. basil Rutter Field (which I said was a downfall in the Athens County Stadiums topic) might actually prove usefull this week ... The Field itself is larger than the one at NY and the fence is back further - but it makes the area around the fence larger as well - which should give fans more places to stand to see the game Friday.
I would not be surprised to see the entire fence around the field filled with fans - which would be absolutly nuts - it would take A LOT OF people to fill the stands, and then cover that entire area.

Does Athens pre-sell tickets at the high school? I'm off on Friday, and might want to swing by to pick some up to avoid the crush at gametime.
Re: PREVIEW: Nelsonville-York at Athens week 10
Nelsonville-York has 1,000 tickets to sell for Friday night's game. They will be on sale tonight at the home JV game with Alexander and other hours will be announced either later this evening or tomorrow. Tickets are $5.00 each.

Re: PREVIEW: Nelsonville-York at Athens week 10
Ive added a few things to the preview page:
I just hate talking about some kids - then leaving others out - so I keep adding stuff ... lol
There are so many great athletes on both teams, I wish I could cover all the match-ups ... I just don't have the photos for it. It will be interesting to see if its a player who hasn't been mentioned a lot come up with the big play or be the 'impact player' Friday ... ala Chance Fox in 2008.

This is the game of the week in my book, if I didn't have some where else to be I would go to this game.

Poor Doc Kroner - no one has voted for his trophy as the biggest reward of the game.....
1. TVC-Ohio championship 38% [ 18 ]
2. Computer points 15% [ 7 ]
3. Undefeated season 29% [ 14 ]
4. Doc Kroner Trophy 0% [ 0 ]
5. Bragging rights 19% [ 9 ]
Total votes : 48
Re: PREVIEW: Nelsonville-York at Athens week 10
The Doc Kroner trophy sure has collected a lot of dust while sitting at NY

Re: PREVIEW: Nelsonville-York at Athens week 10
Well, now it has a vote. Do we even bring it to the games anymore? lol

Re: PREVIEW: Nelsonville-York at Athens week 10
I just did NYbuckeye96 ... I had to help the Doc. out ... I don't know of any past high school athlete in Athens County that didn't like Doc. Kroner ...
It was cool when he use to do all the team physicals - you knew it was time for football season when all the teams would show up down at Kroners office on a Saturday afternoon ... It was the first time you got to get a look at the other area players ... We would cross paths at Kroners office, then the Athens County fair, then we would square off against the 'Bucks in week 1 ... For so many years the Doc. Kroner trophy is all Athens and NY would be playing for since the game kicked off the season ... But now its a completely different story ... And I know one guy who is probably just as excited about the game Friday as everyone else - and that is Doc. Kroner. I would bet anything that he could care less the trophy is last on the list of things up for grabs when the two teams go at it this week. I still see and talk to him down at the rec center sometimes and he's as big of fan of high school sports as anyone - I know he's going to be loving this game and the atmosphere.

Do the players today even know who Doc Kroner is? I hope they are given the history as to why the trophy is named after him and why he was important for all student athletes in Athens County.
Re: PREVIEW: Nelsonville-York at Athens week 10
The players at Athens know who he is. He is on our sidelines for every single game.

I didn't realize Doc Kroner was still on the sidelines. Good for him!

You might want to bring it just in case NYBUX ...
BTW - I was e-mailed this picture (located at the top of the TVC home page) today - it was very nicely done by some students I guess ... http://trivalleyconference.com/Home_Page.html
