Re: Tvc Ohio question
Joe Garrett won't leave PCHS and Joe Crislip wouldn't put up with all the soap opera antics called Belpre Basketball. His E.L.I.T.E Academy is soon to open. The shame of it all are the kids involved in this mess. The up coming senior class will be playing for their 3rd coach in their high school career. There is talent already there and some freshmen coming up will put pressure on the varsity players. I'm sure that the BOE will find the best possible replacement for Coach Plummer. Integrity, sportmanship and acedemic achievement will play a BIG role in the hiring of the new coach. I guess I can officially announce that Bobby Knight wants to take over the program. While everyone is worried about who is or isn't going to coach we need to support the kids. I believe that the process is an open application for all to put there name in the hat. I doubt either Joe will be walking the sidelines for the Orange and Black.

Re: Tvc Ohio question
If Crislip wanted the job he would have applied. I've known Joe C for almost thirty years and I'd say he was just trying to be nice in his answer. Garrett gave a ringing reference for Coach Plummer to take the program. I'd venture to say that whom ever takes over the program not everyone will be happy. eaglefan1 you apply and I'll wish you all the best. The kids need to know soon for summer ball and camps. The question is this...... who in the Belpre School system wants it? They have first pick........ What coach can come with the only teaching job right now that is open is a Science teachers job. There is alot to consider when a coaching job is open. All Belpre posters want the best coach for the kids.........
GO EAGLES!!!!!!
TRIVIA QUESTION: What high school did Joe Crislip first coach at? Not head coach but on the staff.

Good question. His first head coaching job I think was at Federal Hocking but I am not sure where he was first on staff at.
Re: Tvc Ohio question
The truth is that Belpre Basketball is just a way for the athlete's to keep in shape in the winter. There is alot of good kids and good athlete's but no real basketball players. Same way with the football program. Baseball however, Belpre has alot of talent in Baseball. So instead of beating up the coaches and bashing the AD and the athletes just enjoy them while they play and support them. I will agree Belpre does lack discipline at times, and I also agree that I would like to see an outsider come into coach Football and Basketball just so there is no favoritism. Belpre does not have enough players to be able to build championship teams in Basketball and especially Football. But I will tell you this when these athlete's are on the field or the court they give it there all and remember they are just 15, 16, 17, 18 years old.

Mister B you're correct on the trivia question. A reliable source has confirmed that Coach Plummer has officially resigned to the AD. IF this is true I wish him well. Mister B, could you enlighten us on how the coaching process is handled in Belpre, not just for basketball but for all sports?

I do check out the facts, that's why if you look at my number of posts I don't get on here and ramble about nothing.

Re: Tvc Ohio question
This is going to be a VERY difficult job for whoever takes over. It will take a major effort to get control of those players and establish some discipline. I would say it is a good group of parents BUT a very tough group of parents to deal with at times. I hope they find the right person for the job.
having said that, I doubt very seriously that this will happen. Belpre has undoubtably the most incompetent school board ever assembled. Only place i know where board members get on message boards like SEO preps and bash the coaches that they hire. This is board that has made a lot of poor decisions in the past but lets hope they stumble onto the right one this time for the kids sake.

Phil, show me a post where any board member (me) bashed a coached that they hired. As far as I know, I am the only one that posts on here or the Huddle. I have never tried to hide my identitiy nor will I, unlike yourself or most of the other posters. Any knowledgeable Belpre poster knows who I am and where I can be contacted. The Belpre coaches even know who I am.
I didn't see in the rules of this site that the only folks allowed to post on here were disgruntled parents or fans.
I don't have to show my ID on here to others but I have.
Phil, have you got the stones to let folks know who you are?
As for Curt Plummer, I hope he has not resigned. He is a good man and a good coach and I would vote to rehire him in a New York minute.
Belpre has alot of good, young coaches right now, boys & girls basketball, football come to mind. If they are given time and patience, something that we at Belpre are trying very hard to do, they will build programs throughout the years, not overnight.
Imagine where Belpre basketball would have been if 3 board members, back in the mid 1970's, hadn't fired a young coach Joe Garrett because they didn't like his coaching style or the fact that their kids weren't playing enough to suit them.

As always G.W., you are right.
Coach Foote had a 147-288 record at MC.

As I stated above, I hope that is not true that he has resigned. If he has, I wish him nothing but the best. He can coach my child anyday.
To answer your question, all extra-curricular positions at Belpre for the next school year are posted in late spring. By contract with the BEA (Belpre's teacher union) these must be posted in-house for 10 days for certified employees only, that is those persons that hold a valid teaching certificate. At this time, any positions can then be posted outside the district to any certified or non certified person i.e. lay coach. All of this is done according to Ohio Revisied Code. Any person wanting to coach in Ohio must have a valid supervisory certificate from the ODE, be certified in CPR and have a valid certificate in first aid by the OHSAA.
I almost forgot, they must also submit to both a state and federal BCII check. (Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation)
I hope this answers your question.

This is the problem, a good coach? hahaha, goood one. Curt Plummer is a good man and he has good intentions, but he has no right to be coaching high school basketball.
And i apologize for my error. Thanks for the correction GW.

eaglefan1....
You are entitled to your opinion as I am. However, you don't have a vote, I do.
IF the job is open as some say, will you be applying for the job?

Re: Tvc Ohio question
eaglefan1 its true you do not have a vote for who is hired as the next coach but you and the residents of Belpre DO have a vote for who is elected to the school board. I suggest you use your vote wisely the next election.

Re: Tvc Ohio question
not hiding Mister B, just voicing my opinion just as most others do on here. Also, its my right to post on here without revealing my identity. I am pretty sure you dont have a vote on that.
Now that i think about it, it is a good thing you are not on the SEO Ohio Preps Board. It would probably get shut down just like half of the Belpre school district has under your tenure. Maybe you should hide your identity come to think of it!

Re: Tvc Ohio question
If i was qualified, yes i would apply for the job, someday i will apply for the job, but right now, i am not qualified, wait a couple years...and i will be applying, and i could sure as h@!* do a lot better than Plummer, Palmer and Williams.
